If I didn't know any better I would say he is a living example of the fruits of the Spirit.

Yes, a very interesting man. We are to used to seeing how man's greed rules him.

You live in the armpit of CA? I am originally from CA. Where is the armpit? Plenty of places there which have a certain "odor" about them. :)

Pretty much the middle of the San Joaquin Valley. Lots of dairy farms in these parts.

Isn't that a beautiful area? I wasn't up in that area but a few times many years ago. Most of my life was spent in So CA. I've been in Kansas for about 10 years. I like living in rural Kansas as opposed to the crowded city conditions of So. CA.

Lived in SoCal for over 10 years, so I know what you mean.

North of here is pretty nice. During the summer it is just hot and dry, during the winter it is foggy and damp. Not much scenery around here since they have pretty much flattened out the landscape for farming. To get into really beautiful scenery you have to get closer to the mountains.

My brother moved from S.D. area to Bakersfield, then up to just outside of San Francisco. I got to drive over the Golden Gate Bridge. Woot!!! :D Not really that exciting it looks more dramatic from afar.

Sorry for sidetracking your thread.

Not dramatic enough..... try it when the wind is really blowing or think about the constant earth quakes :) I hate going over that bridge... but it sure is pretty.... Love to see it climbing out of the fog....

Not a problem, @Thristyone.

So I guess this would be a good time to :backtotopic

:sorry reba

Sorry, but have to ask: Where in Kansas? I live in the KC metro, Missouri side.

That's ok, Reba, Nikola Tesla won't mind.

From what I remember reading a book about him years ago, he was an under-praised genius. He died poor. He was passionately against Thomas Edison because Edison wanted to run everything with DC, but Tesla pioneered AC. Or.... I should say, it was really the other way around. Edison had a (personal) thing against Tesla because of his AC, and Tesla was more against Edison's DC not so much personally as much as Edison's DC did not have the versatility AC had, in that in DC there's only resistance, no inductance or capacitance reactance or any kind of transformation like in AC. At least that's the crux of what I remember reading. Tesla was not out to get anyone, but he did stand his ground if need be.

His visions exceeded the technology we have today yet, including his vision of wireless power. He was into resonance and of course we have the famous Tesla coils with sparks flying all over the place demonstrated in museums today. He also was involved with anything AC such as down-to-earth things like motors and generators and powered up the world's fair (won the contract over Edison).

And I could go on and on. But like I said, I am amazed at how little is said about this genius. It's almost like he faded into oblivion. However, Tesla is now officially recognized as having the first wireless transmitter, an honor that originally went to Marconi.
