No false interpretations?

If I said that I interpret the bible to say there is no devil is that true just because that's the way I interpreted it? :o

If I say that I interpret the bible to mean Jesus is not the only way to God because the Greek word for "not" doesn't mean the same as in English? :o

If I said that Mary was a virgin all of her life because, well because, the bible said Jesus had brothers, is that true because I interpreted it that way even though it contardicts the bible? :o

Am I God because my interpretation is always correct? Or do I have to have my interpretation backed up by the bible which was written with the same Spirit who inhabits the bodies of born again Christians? If the latter is true, then why in the heck do people try to justify interpretations that contradict the bible? I understand that Satan is behind all of this, but what I don't understand is how people can make a contradiction that blatantly contradicts the bible and have no conscience about it.

You would have to back up your interpritations with facts. And, on this particular point, you'd have a hard time.

Ditto, here.

Ironically enough, Jack Van Impe just spoke on Mary's virginity this week. He provided a strong arguement that Mary HAD to be a virgin for the prophecy in Isiash to make any sense.

Anyone that thinks they are God is obviously deluded, except Jesus, of course, who really was the Son of God.

Going around in circles I see... :D

Since interpretation is a part of Scripture, it sometimes creates conflicts. So while one person's interpretation of Scripture may seem unfounded, it may just be it conflcits with anothers INTERPRETATION.

This is especially true of prophecy and doctrine, where there are many interpretations that often conflict.

Oh, I believe in the Trinity. Jesus is a part of the Godhead.

I do think however the Trinity has some imperfections in it, that have been perpertuated down through the years ever since the Nicean Council.

Sort of like a big game of telephone...

But it appears that scripture is irrelevant to many people who call themselves Christians, expecially the catholics. Not only does the bible not back up their belief that Mary was a virgin all her life, but it contradicts it. Yet they say their belief is true because they say it is, period. So yes, there are true and false interpretations and we know which are true and which are false by whether or not they contradict the bible. That is how Paul tells us how to determine which are true teachings and which are false. :)

Certainly some truth to that. Many people just sit in church because they feel that is how they get saved. And sadly, some churchs help perpetuate the myth as long as it fills their collection plate.

This, however is simply wrong. Mary WAS a virgin at the time of her conception. The Bible is clear on that. You can research the Scripture in the Gospels yourself.

Now after Jesus was born Mary and Joseph did have a normal marraige. James is evidence of that.

If you re-read my post, you will see that I said they believe that Mary was a virgin all of her life. That clearly contradicts scripture. Do they care? No. They either have to say that Joseph was a widower, divorced, had affairs, or invent some other scenario that suits them. This is of course passing along a made-up gospel and is the same rationale that the Gnostics used when they said that Jesus and Mary Magdalene were married. Again, the devil has a hayday when people make up their own bibles.

Which is why I put the qualifier in the second half of my statement.

As for me, I'm gonna have Mary beat and remain a virgin all my life. It certainly seems to be God's will at this point.
