Job - God thought and said Job was an example of a righteous man.
John the Baptist, full of the Holy Spirit in the womb did not fail.
David was Gods example on earth of a righteous follower of God.

God said this about His standard
11 Now what I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach.
Deuteronomy 30

John says this
3 This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome,
4 for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.
1 John 5

Jesus says this
29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
Matt 11

There is a point here, not that today, now, we find these words true for us, but the Lord is declaring we can be in this place. The question we always need to ask ourselves is why we find things so hard. Jesus started with the words repent. This is about change, letting go, cleansing, honesty, not trying to prove ones worth, but letting ones worth in Christ be a servant to others.

When you walk in a room, and connect with someone, you know their approach, their take, their way of processing experiences, you connect. It is about working through things, and in maturity knowing why something can be appealing yet poison, and something else neglected is the fountain of life.

The end of times is to be stamped with sexual immorality.
2 With her the kings of the earth committed adultery and the inhabitants of the earth were intoxicated with the wine of her adulteries.
Revelation 17

Today prostitution, pornography, adultery, sexual liasons are dealt with as nothing, any sexual expression is just part of life that only prudes deny. Love, faithfulness, honesty, truthfulness are thrown to one side for sexual gratification of the moment, though such liasons deny the people involved and kill and hurt all who touch it. Wealth and luxury hide the hurt and pain, the loss of meaning and care, so perpetuate the illusion this is life and fulfilling, success rather than rotting and degredation.

Only Gods people will rise above, because love has touched their hearts and changed them. Believe and follow and you will experience this truth in yourselves. Amen.

Amen sir!

Jesus has given us all things that pertain to (eternal) life and godliness.

His Life in us, His Spirit, working in us to renew and transform our lives to that of righteousness and true holiness, so that we can walk as He walked, in obedience to the Voice and leading of God.

We can do these things by His grace, by the power of His endless Life working in us, to express His will for our lives and families.

Here’s the recipe:

Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins. 2 Peter 1:2-9

I think where man pales in comparison to God is in the area of love and holiness.
I think your right, which is why Jesus showed us by example how we should be. In particular, im thinking of Jesus washing feet.

1 Peter 1:16 NKJV
because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.”
God wouldn't command us something we were not capable of doing. God does not set us up to fail, but he does lift us up when we fall.

It may be in how you read the question. As in we can be compared to God. I agree God has given us everything we need. (Christ in us) Apart from that as Jesus stated, "everyone who sins is a slave to sin"
Jesus also stated, "Love one another as He loved"
A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.

The stop sinning part, to me, is the easy part. To love as Jesus loved 100% of the time, most if not all , would state is a "work in progress" As in working towards perfection.

Even on the cross, "Father forgive them for they know not what they do"

I agree.
I'm not talking about works based salvation, but I've been trying to read a gospel a week for the next six months. I'm on my third week, and I may split Matthew into two weeks.

Why? For exactly the reason you started above. How many Christians know Jesus well enough to use his words and his examples in our daily lives? If we want to love as Jesus loved, then we need to really get to know him not only in our daily prayers, but also through His word.

No one measures up to Gods standard, but if our sins are constantly placed on the lamb then i guess that would make us sinless in Gods eyes. I dont know about perfect, i think perfection comes through self denial and personal sacrifice. The lamb is eternal, which means our payment lasts for eternity. Following Jesus and seeing his sacrifice for us, helps us believe that he is that lamb.

That's an interesting conclusion.
Do you know that in the Jewish language, they don't really have an English word that holds the same meaning we generally use.
In other words, sacrafice generally puts the focus on what we have given up.

When God allowed Jesus to suffer on the cross, He did not give up his son. Instead, God's perfect plan used Jesus to draw all men near to God.

Did you see the shift in emphasis? It's not what was lost or given up because Jesus was neither. Instead, the Cross represents drawing near to God, as did everything which was offered at the Alter. You see, the cross served the exact same function as the Alter which was to draw us near to God in that we would be set free from the bondage of sin.
