The parables of the kingdom of heaven, might be seen as important for a Christian forum which has for years and years discussed all varying things, but just a moment to be specific.
We have it told fairly straight forward, how everybody who hears the gospel of Christ, fails or succeeds, ( eternal life) for one reason or another.
Luke 8 is clear about how Satan comes to take the word away that is sown, and how others are preoccupied with cares of this life. ( instead of God)
So we do not need to talk about those established, easily understood things any more.
The thread is called, no root in themselves, for a very specific testimony.
Proverbs 12 gives testimony, how the root of the righteous will not be moved, but how wickedness cannot be established. ( cannot be rooted.)
How the root of the righteous is established, ( rooted) and how the wicked are not, is what the root of the righteous yields, ( which the root of the wicked does not) it is FRUIT.
Also prophesied was those who come out of Jacob to take root:, that Israel would blossom and bud, and fill the face of the world with fruit. ( the Lord Jesus Christ is that seed of Israel to blossom and bud and fill the face if the world with fruit.)
Psalm 132, tells of the horn of David to bud, which is where God clothes Jerusalems priests with salvation, ( of the Lord Jesus Christ) and upon the horn of David ( Christ) HIs crown flourishes. ( He buds and fills the face of he world with fruit.)
Isaiah 11 continues, of the rod this time, out of the stem of Jesse, the Branch growing out of his roots, which is Jesus Christ of the Spirit of the Lord resting upon Him. ( and remaining, to prove this is He which baptises with the holy ghost/filling the face of the world with fruit.)
Jeremiah 17, tells of those trees ( the planting of the Lord/trees of righteousness. Isaiah 61:3.) that spreads out her roots by the river, to not see heat when heat comes, ( not be as the dried up roots/those who have no root in themselves/who lacked moisture.) but their leaf is green ( yielding fruit/SHALL NOT CEASE FROM YIELDING FRUIT.)
Jeremiah 23, again tells of the days coming, that the Lord raises unto David a righteous Branch, a King reigning and prospering, ( filling the face of the world with fruit/flourishing), executing judgment and justice in the earth. In his days Judah is saved, this is his name whereby He shall be called, The Lord Our Righteousness.
Psalm 132:16 I will also clothe her priests with salvation: and her saints shall shout aloud for joy.
17 There will I make the horn of David to bud: I have ordained a lamp for mine anointed.
18 His enemies will I clothe with shame: but upon himself shall his crown flourish.
Proverbs 12:3 A man shall not be established by wickedness: but the root of the righteous shall not be moved.
Proverbs 12:12 The wicked desireth the net of evil men: but the root of the righteous yieldeth fruit.
Isaiah 11:1 And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:
2 And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;
Isaiah 27:6 He shall cause them that come of Jacob to take root: Israel shall blossom and bud, and fill the face of the world with fruit.
Jeremiah 17:8 For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.
Jeremiah 23:5 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth.
6 In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, The Lord Our Righteousness.
Jesus gets straight into all that was prophesied to be completed. The axe was laid to all trees, unto their roots, and how now every tree that fails to bring forth good fruit, is cast down into the fire.
In Matthew 13, Jesus tells how this works, it is because of not having a root, that these (seeds/ trees) whither away. They have no root being in stony places, ( lacking the essential moisture) and receive the word of God, but have no ROOT IN THEMSELVES, endure for a while but are offended in any time of tribulation.
Matthew 13 continues, how the wheat ( who bear fruit) could not be gathered up, but had to grow until the time of reaping, because they were rooted, and should not be rooted up.
Matthew 15, has Jesus answering again, how every plant not planted by the Father would be rooted up.
Matthew 3:10 And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
Matthew 13:6 And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.
Matthew 13:20 But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;
21 Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.
Matthew 13:29 But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.
30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.
Matthew 15:13 But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.
We can look again at who is rooted up, and why, in Luke 8. First of course, it is fitting to look what is prophesied before, about those same roots, either having or lacking moisture.
Here we have an important testimony in Psalms 22, , of being told of the strength dried up, and it is when the people of Israel stare at Christ, when they parted HIs garments and cast lots for HIs vesture.
Again Psalm 32, speaks of the deliverance of the godly, who could now pay unto God when He could be found,. It is again when the Messiah has the hand of the Lord heavy upon Him, when HIs moisture is turned into drought. ( HIS TONGUE CLEAVING TO HIS JAWS.) When Jesus knew that all things were accomplished, said He thirsted. ( on the cross.)
Psalm 22:15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.
Psalm 22:17 I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me.
18 They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.
Psalm 32:4 For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me: my moisture is turned into the drought of summer. Selah.
Psalm 32:6 For this shall every one that is godly pray unto thee in a time when thou mayest be found: surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him.
John 19:28 After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.
