It is the goodness of God that leads any person to repentance. ( without God leading anyone to repentance, there is no repenting of darkness to light., from the power of satan unto God, to receive forgiveness of sins and under satans influence .)
God has the righteous judgement, rendering to every man according to their deeds, some do well doing patiently, others do not obey the truth ( doing well through our Lord Jesus Christ.) they obey unrighteousness, doing evil, glory and honour are to every man that works good. ( through the Spirit and love of Jesus Christ.)
It is proven that all are under sin ( in unbelief of Jesus Christ. John 8:24. Romans 14:23.)
That is because there is none righteous ( who do not believe in Jesus Christ in sincerity. ( 2 Corinthians 8:8. Ephesians 6:24.)
None has understanding, none seek ( sincerely) after God, they are gone out of the way. ( did not repent after hearing the way of righteousness. Matthew 21:32.)
They are unprofitable ( Unprofitable servants to God. Matthew 25:30.) as none do good, not one.
Their ( all tongues who never believed sincerely in the Lord Jesus Christ.) tongues they use for deceit, with poison of asps under their lips, their mouth full of cursing and bitterness, the way of peace ( the peace Jesus Christ gives, the Spirit, unknown to the wicked who have not the Spirit. Isaiah 57:19-21. John 14:27. Jude 1:19.) they know not.
There is no fear of God before their eyes. ( the fear of God is through the Spirit of God. Isaiah 11:2-3.)
Romans 2:4 Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?
5 But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;
6 Who will render to every man according to his deeds:
7 To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:
8 But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,
9 Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;
10 But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:
Romans 3:9 What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;
10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.
12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
13 Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips:
14 Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:
15 Their feet are swift to shed blood:
16 Destruction and misery are in their ways:
17 And the way of peace have they not known:
18 There is no fear of God before their eyes.
We are then put in mind to be ready to every good work. Showing meekness to all men.
We ourselves ( as all unbelievers in the Lord Jesus Christ.) were foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, hating one another.
The kindness and love of God our Saviour appeared, ( not works of righteousness anyone did, as none did righteousness, there was none that did good, not one, or that can do good or righteousness ,without repenting from the power of satan, to God.)
According to His mercy God saved us, washing us in regeneration and renewing the Holy Ghost n us, to justify us through His grace. ( no person can do justly, without grace.)
Those who believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. ( they are god and profitable to men, and before this all are unprofitable, as none do good.)
Titus 3:1 Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work,
2 To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men.
3 For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.
4 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,
5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
Titus 3:8 This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.
Through belief in Jesus Christ ( believing how much He suffered for us in the flesh.) we likewise suffer in the flesh, to cease from sin. ( Christ suffered for us so much, to cease us from sin.)
No longer ( as all unbelievers, and all who do not sincerely love our Lord Jesus Christ.) living our time in the flesh to the lusts of men, now to the will of God. ( sanctification, to know how to be in sanctification and honour, not in lust as those who do not know God, to not defraud our brother in any matter, because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we are forewarned and testified.)
The time past ( as unbelievers) sufficed us, to do the will of men, walking in lasciviousness, lusts, excesses, revelings, idolatries. ( covetousness is idolatry. Colossians 3:5.)
Those who do not love our Lord Jesus Christ sincerely, and all unbelievers ( in the righteousness of Jesus Christ.) think it strange that you do not agree with their running to excess of riot, and so speak evil of you doing all Christ did and commands.
1 Thessalonians 4:3 For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:
4 That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;
5 Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God:
6 That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.
1 Peter 4:1 Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;
2 That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.
3 For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:
4 Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:
God has the righteous judgement, rendering to every man according to their deeds, some do well doing patiently, others do not obey the truth ( doing well through our Lord Jesus Christ.) they obey unrighteousness, doing evil, glory and honour are to every man that works good.
