The Bible teaches that obedience to God is important. Jesus Christ is the perfect model of obedience, and his disciples follow his example and commands.

The motivation for obedience is love. There are many Bible verses that talk about obedience, such as Deuteronomy 6:4-9, Psalm 1:1-2, James 1:22-25, Matthew 7:24-27, Ephesians 6:1, John 15:10-14, Romans 2:6-11, and Genesis 22:17-1823.

A prayer for obedience to Jesus Christ is also available.

Prayer for Obedience Lord Jesus, You have proclaimed that if we love You, we will keep Your commandments. To walk with You is to avoid sin. We must always be killing sin, lest it rises and kills us. Therefore, give me a willing and able desire to follow You. Wherever it may take me, let me follow You as a lamb follows his/her shepherd.
