Our son just got his Oculus virtual reality gaming system for his gaming channel. As soon as he set it up, he went to a demo screen and then had my wife and I give it a whirl. I had experienced a virtual reality system at an arcade back in the early 90s but todays systems just really blow that away. My wife didn't even want to go try it out as it was her bed time but she reluctantly gave it a try and wound up staying out in the studio for an hour . We hope it helps his channel significantly.

Virtual Reality is amazing. But I am even much more anxious for the mainstream breakthrough of Augmented Reality. VR is a great tool for projects like what your son is in to. But how long can your average people fully separate themselves from the real sensory input around them?

Google Glass was a good idea, but it was over-priced for most people. It was a "nice to have" rather than a "need to have" and still on the cusp of infancy. If people are going to spend over $1000, they have to feel like they need it. But the idea is great. Stay connected with the world while merging in virtual content.

Microsoft HoloLens looks like it has the potential to be the game-changer AR needs. Come on, Microsoft! Launch it!

All that said, what does your son do with Oculus?

Our son runs a gaming channel in hopes of hitting it big and being self employed doing what he loves. The Oculus VR is to hopefully give him an edge over his competition.

You mean like Puddi-pie? I probably slaughtered his name. Our son watches his gaming videos on YouTube. Does he do that kind of thing on YouTube? I can't wrap my mind around how much money some of those gamers make. I hope this comes to fruition for him.

Yep. My son has his "heroes" in the Youtube gaming world as well. Jack Septic Eye is one of his favorites. Jack did a virtual tea set scene that had me laughing. Some of these guys make 6 or 7 digit incomes. The really big money is on streaming through Twitch( I think that's what its called). Some guy named Swift or Swiftor or something like that hosts a very popular gaming channel. My son and my wife met him in person at a PAX event. He has had my son on his channel a few times. I have asked our son to keep his channel family friendly ( no cursing) .He slips every now and then and uses "near cursing" at times, but for the most part" keeps it clean.
