Bible Study offerings

Does anyone know what these offerings mean, why they were offered, and why God required them to be offered?

From Deut:
And thither ye shall bring your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, and your tithes, and heave offerings of your hand, and your vows, and your freewill offerings, and the firstlings of your herds and of your flocks

EACH ONE OF THESE IS SEPARATE.

Basically all these offerings are symbolic of Jesus, though the Passover is the main one. Since animals do not and cannot sin (they have no knowledge of right and wrong; innocent), it's the perfect symbol to use to represent Jesus being sacrifice for the sin of the world. Also, God was teaching the Israelites about giving; God is a giver and therefore His people should be people who freely gives to God or to those who do the work (the priest) of God in the temple; they represents God. The Priest is to be supported or paid for the work that they do in the temple, since they have no inheritance among the children of Israel.

Thanks for that explanation.

What is a heave offering, and a burnt offering, and the diff btwn sacrifices and firstlings offerings?
Aren't the 2 latter ones both killing a live animal?

A heave offering is simply an offering that has been given freely as a gift to God, and a burnt offering is just the regular offering that one would offer to God for ones sin. All animals be offered to God requires killing of the animal….it is simply symbolic, and was done in order to teach and point to Jesus, the perfect sacrifice for sin. There are many hidden messages in the Old Testament, providing that individual has an opened mind, always willing to learn the purpose behind what God had inspired.

Thanks, why do you read the ASV?

Why not another version?

Actually I mostly read the KJV, but not because I believe it's the best translation.....there is no best translation; it all depends on ones personal preference. I use Word Search 8 software on my laptop and it has 21 different translations, and I use some of them when studying.
