Year: 1941
Drama/Comedy

Was on the TV today. I just loved it!

A movie about men with ulterior motives, protests against social ills, caring people who reach out to help the poor, unemployed and needy people in a community which took them for granted.

No vulgarity in this movie, except a tomato gets thrown at someone. ;-) LOL

And of course.... I'm not going to give away too much of the movie!

Quick witted dialect , clever plot, compassion for honesty.

I LOVE OLD MOVIES and own a small collection of them. This one is on the list to add to my library.

Gary Cooper and Barbara Stanwyck are two of many of my favorite movies stars from the 30's 40's and 50's.

I like Cary Grant, Bing Crosby and Katherine Hepburn

"The Philadelphia Story" with Grant, Katherine Hepburn and Jimmy Stewart is one of the best. I really liked "Arsenic and Old Lace"

"White Christimas" and "Holiday Inn" are great Bing Crosby movies and a staple for my family to watch come this time of year.

I recently got Frankenstein and the Bride of Frankenstein, both being the classic black and white versions.

I've only seen the big ones. Citizen Kane. Casablanca. It's a Wonderful Life.

Two fantastic movies:

Mrs Miniver - a great movie about the life of an upper class family during the war.

Random Harvest - now here's a well told story!

Greer Garson is the leading lady of both movies.

Love old movies Philadephia Story is deffiantely one of my favorites as is Arsnic and Old Lace. Some other goodies:

Father Goose: crochety batchelor (Cary Grant) is marroned on an island with a school teacher and 10 little girls durring WWII

Operation Petticoat: Cary Grant again, WWII, submarine crew picks up some maroned nurses while trying to repair their vesel - said vessel ends up painted pink

Harvey: Jimmy Stewart is an eccentric man who wanders around with a 6' 2 1/2" white rabbit, his sister tries to get him locked up

It Happened One Night: Newspaper man helps a spoiled heiress runn away from home

Singing in the Rain: THE classic hollywood musical

Mr Smith Goes to Washington: I think every amarican government class should watch this

King Kong! What a flick!

I still like to watch it once in a while.

1933!

Fay Wray .... Ann Darrow
Robert Armstrong .... Carl Denham
Bruce Cabot .... 1st Mate John 'Jack' Driscoll
Frank Reicher .... Capt. Englehorn
Sam Hardy .... Charles Weston
Noble Johnson .... Native chief
Steve Clemente .... Witch king (as Steve Clemento)
James Flavin .... Second Mate Briggs

I know, such a classic! I can't wait for the new one though PJ rocks my face off!

Goonies, Neverending Story, Labryinth are all in my favorite "classic" films ;)

I am a huge "Classic Movie" buff...

Some of my favs....

"The Third Man" (best cameo in history)
"Bridge Over The River Kwai" (Alec Guiness did more than Star Wars!)
"Dr. Strangelove...." (Peter Sellers is a genius)
"Treasure of Sierra Madre" (Best representation of basic human nature)
"Lawrence of Arabia" (Best Epic Ever)
"Rear Window" (Hitchcock's most underrated movie)

Ah, there are so many others....start here and watch them all...

Arsenic and Old Lace
Harvey
All About Eve
To Kill a Mocking Bird
The Searchers

One Flew over the CooCoo's nest

That book is one of my favorites, but the movie doesn't do it justice despite the great cast. Nicholson's best was Easy Rider, anyway.

On The Waterfront

Karl Malden's "sermon on the docks" speech was one of the best monologue's in cinematic history. For those who haven't seen the film, he's a short snippet:

“Some people think the Crucifixion only took place on Calvary. They better wise up… every time the mob puts the crusher on a good man  tries to stop him from doing his duty as a citizen  it’s a crucifixion… Christ is always with you… And He’s saying with all of you, if you do it to the least of mine, you do it to Me!â€Â

Throw in Marlon Brando's "I coulda' been a contenda" scene and you've got one of the finest movies Hollywood ever put out. If you haven't seen this one, I highly encourage renting it.
