Please excuse me if this question as come up before in the past, haven't been here that long.

After just reading another threat hereWould you be disappointed to find a Hindu in Heaven?

I thought about what Jesus tells us in John 10 14-16.. Jesus tells us there are other sheep in his fold.

14. I am the good shepherd, and I know mine and mine know me,

15. just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I will lay down my life for the sheep

16. I have other sheep that do not belong to this fold. These also I must lead, and they will hear my voice, and there will be one flock, one shepherd.

What do you believe Jesus meant by this?

Who do you believe are Jesus' other sheep are that will come into his flock?

The other sheep Jesus was referring to in John 10:16 are the Gentiles.

Ephesians 2:11 Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;

Ephesians 2:12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:

Ephesians 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

Ephesians 2:14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;

Ephesians 2:16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

Way to go on that verse.....

BB,

Of course I hope you relaize that a GENTILE is only a NON JEW and has nothing to do with cultural or religious pre - disposition.

The sheep of the other fold using a fundamentalist literalist logical mindset could VERY WELL MEAN A HINDU< BUDDHIST< ISLAMIST ETC.....

BB,

DEFINITION OF A GENTILE

Gentile

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
One of a non-Jewish nation; one neither a Jew nor a Christian; a worshiper of false gods; a heathen.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Belonging to the nations at large, as distinguished from the Jews; ethnic; of pagan or heathen people.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Denoting a race or country; as, a gentile noun or adjective.

As stated by Bibleberean!!!!!

The other sheep Jesus was referring to in John 10:16 are the Gentiles.

You are mistaken here. BB is right on the money. The FOLD was the nation of Isreal or God's people. The others sheep are those outside the Nation of Israel that up to this point were not the recipients of the Good News. Jesus is saying that it is time to take the Gospel outside the Jews to the world. Those who are His sheep are those who will accept Him as Lord and Savior.

Soma, Robert is right on. Context of scripture clearly points to the gentiles. Hindu's would have been considered Gentiles, but until they accept Christ, they are not sheep in his flock.

A Hindu, Mormon, Baptist, Catholic, Orthodox, Buddhist has a "Shot at grace".

All they have to do is come to the Father through His Son by believing the gospel.

whats wrong with baptist? :crying: or was that just an example? :D

Greeting Jess,

That was just an example. Church membership won't save us. My point being that even being in a good church but not being born again through the gospel of Christ leaves a person outside the flock.

Those who don't believe the gospel are "unsaved gentiles"

Does that clear it up?

God bless,

Robert

... and to support bibleberean's post:

While the Bible is clear that the image of the sheep and flocks are the house of Israel, in John 10:16, Jesus speaks of “other sheep I have that are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one fold and one Shepherd.†This is clearly speaking of the Gentiles who will be grafted into the ancient promises and covenants God made with “the sheep of Israel†through salvation (Ephesians 2:11-13; Romans 11:13-32).

Therefore, as “adopted sons of Abraham,†we Gentiles, now saved and made partakers of the covenants and promises to Israel, also take on the relationship with God as sheep of the Good Shepherd, part of the household of faith.
