Out of Context Advice?

A dear saint gave this report: Well, it's killing me but I stayed home from church this morning. I refuse to be the one (if I can help it) to expose others to this. I sound pitiful! I'm doing breathing treatments about 3 times a day. I hope the Lord spares me from getting pneumonia this year.

Would the following scripture be out of context as advice?

Acts 20:35 . . It is more blessed to give than to receive.

Hebrews 11:25 Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God . .

Not if you put a smiley face behind them. :)

Otherwise, you might just let him or her know you will be praying for them, if you will be praying for them. And maybe offer your assistance if needed.

Sounds as if the person is suffering from asthma brought on by a bronchial infection... A card of encouragement, accompanied by some easily heated food such as soup or stew as well as an offer to help out in any way sounds like the best course.

The Hebrews 11 text almost sounds like a rebuke for not going to church when one is seriously ill...:confused

Oh okay, I re-read the question and it seems more serious than humourous.

Sorry about the asthma symptoms.

The problem is real, but my non-given advice is an example of how related sounding scripture out of context can be all wrong. This was suggested tongue in cheek on this forum only.
:sorry
