Growth Overcoming Doubt?

Do we allow some of our modes of reasoning to suppress faith from our lives? Why not ask God to help us find ways of countering doubts about the faithfulness of His promises? This article may be consulted in its original trilingual context (English, Spanish, French): Overcoming Doubt? at Savoir et croire .ca (Knowing and Believing).

i have the the new testament on dvd and keep playing it day and night

i find i have a better sleep with God's words going into me while i sleep

i have been doing this for years and it has been positively affecting my faith and melting my doubts

Romans 10:17

it takes about 2 days to go through the nt this way - meaning i have been hearing the nt approximately 3 times a week for several years now - imo this is why my faith is increasing and doubts decreasing

One thing that will take doubts away is realizing where it comes from and it comes solely from Satan who loves to play mind games with us in order to steal our faith.

John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

You mean doubt in Jesus Christ as the way truth and life? Doubt in the Bible's authenticity?
I doubt whether any Christian knows the whole truth. All will be revealed one day.
100% certainty can be a problem too. because then you can fail to see some truth in other areas. edited reba

We make the assumption that "doubt" is a bad thing. Of course sometimes it is. When you are in the role of leader and have to make decisions on the spot, better to be decisive and pragmatic. If we doubt ourselves all the time, people could steamroll us because our boundaries aren't clear.
When it comes to the abstract and intellectual world, there is more room for doubt. And that includes theology. Yes there are given objective truths. Jesus was and is the Son of God for instance. Edited reba I don't see that as sure and certain. In my view anyway. Doubt can be a good thing, if genuine compassion is the motive. But sometimes things have to stay the same out of respect for tradition.

TOS 2.2 Discussion of Catholic doctrine is limited and will only be allowed in the One on One Debate Forum ,End Times forum and now HOT TOPICS. RCC content in the End Times forum should relate to End Times beliefs. Do not start new topics elsewhere or sway existing threads toward a discussion or debate that is may be viewed as ‘Catholic’ in nature.

Exactly, Sister. That's what we do know, that deception is rampant and that we have been lied to our entire lives! Then when we read & pray, the truth offends the sensibilities of the mindset that we were given so many times is rejected and doubt makes a stronghold. This has to be resisted and the truth received. The only way to do that is to put the Word of God in our hearts, and revelation.

I'm talking about our biggest adversary being Satan who tries to steal truth from us by planting doubt in our minds. No one could possibly know all the truths of Gods word as we could never exhaust His teachings in the Bible. Gods salvation has nothing to do with the written word as we are saved be Gods grace through faith that is Christ Jesus to all who will believe. The Bible is our instruction manual that teaches us of Gods mercy and grace as we grow in Spiritual strength through that of the indwelling Holy Spirit that teaches us all truths that God wants revealed to us and how to overcome the principalities of this world so that when Christ returns we have made ourselves ready to be with Him for eternity.

Romans 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. 9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

Tradition is only that of what comes from the generations before us as what they were taught might not always be truth. That is why we need to search the scriptures for our self by allowing the Holy Spirit to teach us truth. Even if we did not have the privilege of owning a Bible, Gods Spirit would still be revealed to those who seek after Him.

I got to admit, I am having trouble with doubts myself at the moment. But picture Satan as aneeded Internet troll. He wants to make you doubt your faith because he knows that upsets you. The more you learn to ignore him, the sooner he will learn that he can't get to you and he will leave you alone. Then the doubts will fade away. Because God's love and goodness is stronger than evil and somebody who loves you enough to die for you is worth fighting for.
