I've seen a couple mentions here on this forum, all kinda negative. Do we not like him for some reason? I sorta like him and the things he says.

seems most TV preachers have some good stuff to say... by the time ya get through spitting out the bones there is not much left...

As he has gotten older he has sort of "gone of the rails" if you will when it comes to some of the things he says. Doesn't mean we hate him, though there are times we have to admit that some of his ideas on why things are happening in the world.

Um...is he the guy that owns/used to own TBN?

Crouch owned TBN
Bakker owned PTL
Swaggert owns SBN

Nope, he is from the 700 Club.
Oh, that guy.
Well for myself I've barely had anything to do with the 700 Club, so I don't really have an opinion. I don't particularly dislike him, and my default is to like someone.
I've very familiar with TBN, but my family never thought very highly of the owners and from what I know I don't think I do either.

I used to live near the TBN headquarters and never thought very highly of them. They subscribe to the prosperity gospel, among other things that I don't agree with.

Very gaudy building of which appears to waste a lot of money on landscaping and lighting of the building that could, conceivably be put to better use.

"Kinda negative?" Not from me. I state quite openly that he is one of the absolute worst representatives of God on TV.
Any specific examples, Willie, of things you don't like?

Honestly? Just about every subject he addresses. I understand senility, but he seems to be so very confused on anything he tries to talk about.

But I guess telling that guy that if he was going to be seeing other women because his wife got Alzheimer's, that he didn't fault him for that at all, because a man needs companionship..... rather that the "Christian" thing to do would be to divorce her first, and make sure he had arranged for her "care" in a "home" was the stupidest thing ever to come out of his mouth.

Have you a link for that so I can read it in more depth? That's not good advice.

really the Christian thing to do is divorce her?

These guys are trash-mouthed sleaze balls (PC Warning!), but they DO show what Robertson is helping people to think about Christians.
Only watch this if you elect to... I HAVE WARNED YOU.

You really should be able to find this very easily, but here you go...

I'm no stranger to Google (believe me), but in this instance I wanted to be sure I was reading the same words as you.

Well, surely this was not the man's finest hour, but we all misspeak or even misthink at times. I've heard him say things that seemed to me right on, and in the final analysis hoping he's led more people to the narrow way than away from.

What do we think of Robertson's comments here?...
