Paul's Glorious Gospel

"But if our Gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: in whom the god of this world has blinded the minds of them that do not believe, lest the light of the glorious Gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them" 2 Corinthians 4:3-4.

Satan uses religion to blind those that are lost. They cannot see or understand Paul's glorious Gospel.

Have you noticed that all the religious people can talk about is their religion. Their religion is their Jesus. All that the Pharisees could talk about was the Torah. They said that the Torah was the way, the truth and the life and that it was the light that lightens every man. John took what the Pharisees said about the Torah and applied it to Jesus, John 14:6.

What religion is to Catholics, Calvinist, and others, Jesus is to the Gospel believing Christian. Just as what the Torah was to the Pharisees, Christ is to the New Testament Christian. Catholics and others worship their religion. They worship the pope, they worship the sacraments, they worship Mary, they worship the Catholic religion, it is their Jesus.

Paul referred to the Gospel as "The Glorious Gospel" The Gospel is glorious because it is our only means of salvation. "It is the power of God unto salvation" Romans 1:16. In the Gospel Jesus comes into the world to reconcile fallen humanity to God the Father, 2 Corinthians 5:18-19. He does this by doing for us that which we cannot do for ourselves. By his sinless he offers to God the Father a life of perfect obedience to his Holy Law. By his death on the cross he atones for our sins and the sins of the whole world, 1 John 4:14.

It was the life of Jesus that was lived for our justification, Romans 3:26. All that Jesus was and all that Jesus did, he did in our name and on our behalf. Our salvation is safe and secure because it is at the right hand of God in heaven. We are complete in him, Colossians 2:10.

No one will be going to hell because they sinned. They will be going to hell because they rejected God's great free gift of salvation that has been provided by Jesus Christ, Ephesians 2:8. God has ALREADY dealt with the sins of humanity. When Jesus died on the cross all of humanity died with him, Romans 6:6. All that are trusting in Christ for their salvation are now new creations in Jesus Christ, 2 Corinthians 5:17. They are complete in him, Colossians 2:10.

Matthew 25:31-46 [NKJV]
31 “When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. 32 All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. 33 And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. 34 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:35 for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; 36 I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’
37 “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? 38 When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? 39 Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ 40 And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, in as much as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’
41 “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: 42 for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; 43 I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’
44 “Then they also will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’ 45 Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, in as much as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ 46 And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

According to scripture, why did the King send them to “everlasting punishment”?

Matthew 25:31-46 is about the separation of the sheep and the goats. The sheep are Christians, the goats are the lost.

The Christians (sheep) were doing good works but were not aware of it, Matthew 25:34-40. Good works are a normal part of a Christians life because of the indwelling Holy Spirit, Ephesians 2:10.

The lost (goats) do not have the indwelling Holy Spirit, so they live for their flesh. If they do good works it is usually done to glorify themselves.

In the judgment God will recognize his people by their Spirit. Those that do not have the Holy Spirit are the lost. They will be cast into hell.
