Paul's Gospel According to Jesus Christ

Paul received his Gospel directly from Jesus Christ.

"But I certify you, brothers, that the Gospel which was preached of me is not after man. For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ" Galatians 1:11-12.

What was this Gospel that Paul received from Jesus Christ?

A good part of the Gospel can be found in Romans 5:12-21. Especially Romans 5:18-19.

"Therefore as by the offence of one (Adam) judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one (Christ) the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life" Romans 5:18.

This scripture tells us that we are lost and saved by a representative. Adam brings sin and death upon us. Christ brings righteousness and eternal life. Salvation is a free gift, a free gift cannot be earned or deserved, otherwise it would not be a free gift.

"For as by one man's disobedience (Adam) many were MADE sinners, so by the obedience of one (Christ) shall many be made righteous" Romans 5:19.

Notice that it says "MADE". We did not become sinners, we were MADE sinners by Adam's disobedience. Nor do we become righteous, we are MADE righteous by the obedience of Jesus Christ. Notice how everything is happening totally and completely outside of us. This is why salvation is by grace through faith. All that is required of us is faith, faith in Christ and his Gospel.

When Jesus lived, we lived in him. When Jesus died, we died with him. When Jesus was resurrected, we were resurrected with him. When Jesus ascended into heaven, we ascended with him. In Jesus Christ we have been justified, sanctified and redeemed and now stand in God's Holy Court as perfect and complete "In Christ" Colossians 2:10. This is Paul's Gospel and our Gospel.

Paul's Gospel is the end of the Old Covenant, the law and the Jewish religion. Where there is law there is judgment and condemnation. "There is no condemnation for those that are in Christ" Romans 8:1. There is no condemnation because there is no law, it has been abolished, Ephesians 2:15. Jesus nailed to his cross, Colossians 2:14.

It is not possible to have a relationship with a law giver. This is why Jesus abolished it. Jesus doesn't want to be your taskmaster; he wants to be your friend. A good friend will not try to control you with laws and rules. What kind of a relationship would that be? Not a good one. Obedience to Christ should always be motivated by love. If you love someone you will not sin against them.
