jasonc well with higher population funding wouldn't be an issue. Even if traffic during the day was an issue, I know my city started doing the roads here at night because they were so bad semi trucks were causing the roads to sink in with the wheels. I barely made it across on that because I was so close on bottoming out. That section of the road finally got resurfaced, they had to dig it up though and repack it, it was so bad.

Of course the highway I take is still bad. One day they ground off a portion of the highway because it was just so bumpy you had to drive in a different lane.

Not if they always have to build roads .I can't name too many times the turnpike or 95 near Miami or Jacksonvillr doesn't have road construction

That's where they need to either budget or hire more construction crews depending on the problem. They got construction everywhere here but where they need it the most, fixing the highway here. Takes a week or two at the most vs building new roads.

Two weeks?

Seriously I would like see that done with utilities moved ,property bought ,roads open and bridges built .

I thought the two years for the alma Lee loy bridge repair was a bit much .43 Rd ave widening took over a year .alot of that is the fighting over money for property

Problem is they need to prioritize what roads to do. Building new roads while your existing roads are bad is just neglect basically. If one road is getting bad you got to resurface them. Took a week for my neighborhood roads to get fixed. If you can't resurface them, at least grind them flat which they could do on nights before the winter so snowplows are not making new potholes every year. Patches only work for so long due to extreme temperatures on the roads, they buckle creating a potential pothole problem.

My county and city do that but when you have three or more community of that that will be a problem .
Mcansh park ,victory Blvd ,Buena Vista and also Atlantic Blvd .beach side it will be a1a,ocean drive and those numerous streets between mockingbird and a1a and ocean drive .

People cut through to head west on them all because a1a is that bad after Easter

jasonc do they actually maintain those roads or are they neglected? I seen them patch potholes and grind some areas of the road on the highway and in some cases they did resurface a section of the road but it was only because they were working on something else that causes them to shift the lanes.

Last year they redid a lot of roads in my city that were bad. Everywhere that I don't normally drive on basically. They had a stretch of road that basically was a problem anytime you braked on it because it was just that bumpy that got fixed though. The highway here though really needs fixing badly.

They are behind .they try but they can't keep up .

jasonc sounds like they need to spend more time on fixing the existing roads instead of building them. Just my take here. They're building new highway bridges here that takes years to accomplish while the existing highway keep getting worse.

Kinda can't .are you gonna tell them given high home prices and rent here.i can sell my house buy acreage in ga and have money left over ,that they can't build ?

I should post the reasons why lateral a and kings hwy were widening and use Google Earth to point old farms and groves that are now or gonna be subdivisions.

That in theory reduces the housing problem here .

jasonc well it takes more time to build roads vs maintaining them. Every spring they got to do an evaluation and knock out the worst roads. It can be done but when you're spending too much time building new ones and don't have enough resources to fix your bad roads they're just going to get worse. It's not going to be the end of the world if your new roads are delayed by a month or two.

County locally unless it's a right of way or a gated or deeded community doesn't build roads a new.

I mentioned lateral a and kings hwy as those are old roads and I can post WW2 imagery showing all the roads and use time frame of others to show that only rt 60 and us1 and 95 ,512 came to be extended or modified .

These were added and extended heading east to west .

Rosedale ,rosewood ,Glendale ,Citrus ,rebel road ,Oslo road .clemmans road and Emerson were extended and or modified . Thats county roads .a1a will show up as jungle trail and not cross the inlet and then shift and be identical nearly as today .

The state is the one building .the county must because of the population moving here widen roads .

Lateral a would relief traffic on kings hwy .I know as of I'm west by the mall I take it home .

jasonc yeah I get that Florida is one of the best states to go to right now, plus you probably have people moving from the hurricane zone because who wants to live where your home gets torn apart every year which then you got more people going to the part in the state where it's not in the direct line of hurricanes.

But if you're having to avoid roads because they're that bad, then that road needs fixing. And you know the more roads you have the more road construction crews you'll need and you also need money for that but if you got a lot of people going to the state, tax revenue shouldn't be a big deal. If anything you may have to start off with dirt roads with brand new neighborhoods so at least people can still get around and then you can fix the roads that are a problem.

They had terrible roads around my job (some roads still are) but they finally worked on them after falling apart for 6 years. The road next to my job just had craters and it was really difficult to get around them. It looked like they were doing something else though, like underground sewer piping or whatever but they actually fixed the roads in the process.

But they still need to work on the highway here because driving on that at highway speeds, you might as well be driving on a dirt road. They may take care of that next, although they did have a section blocked off last summer on the highway and they didn't do much. Some small patches here and there and they just rise up or dip in compared to the rest of the road and you're just bouncing off it. I don't know how people that drive past the speed limit can handle that as you'd be bouncing your head onto the roof of your car.

They just been neglecting roads here, we also got corrupted politicans, people are fleeing the state due to the high taxes. Florida doesnt have that issue.
