The science of plate tectonics in geology, started by a creationist in the 19th century, continues to provide testable predictions within a biblical worldview.

The major problem with Baumgartner's new doctrine is that if the continents moved to their present postions in less than a few hundred thousand years, the energy released by friction would have boiled off the seas. And that problem isn't going away, even with the hypothesis of a lubricating effect.

Many people have looked at the shape of continents and realized they look as though they fit together. Wegener showed that the hypotheses of Suess and Snider-Pelligrini were not possible:

Wegener pointed out that the concept of isostasy (the ideal theoretical balance of all large portions of Earth’s lithosphere as though they were floating on the denser underlying layer) rendered the existence of large sunken continental blocks, as envisaged by Suess, geophysically impossible. He concluded that if the continents had been once joined together, the consequence would have been drift of their fragments and not their foundering. The assumption of a former single continent could be tested geologically, and Wegener displayed a large array of data that supported his hypothesis

Actually, plate tectonics was originated in the 1960s. AIG is thinking of the idea of continental drift, which was originated in the 1500s, by Abraham Ortelius.

Continental drift as a theory goes back to Alfred Wegener, who actually investigated the geology of the continents and found evidence of continuity between continents. His theory was not accepted, because he couldn't find a mechanism by which the continents moved. The discovery of mid-oceanic ridges in the 1960s made it clear how they moved, and the new theory of plate tectonics began.

Baumgartner's ideas are not accepted because they contradict physics. Continents are much less dense than mantle material, and would not sink into the mantle. Where there are forces causing crust to sink into the mantle, it is always the much more dense oceanic crust that is subducted.
