I remember in elementary school being taught about the planets, and then when in my early 50's being told that Pluto is not a planet, wow. They got it wrong in the 30's. That stuff was in the text books and in the encyclopedias.
because of the orbit of its sister rock. they thought it was a moon at first then determined was about the same size and that pluto and that moon orbit each other.
All planets in our solar system were named after pagan Gods, most of the other planets' moons, and other stuff out there big enough to be named is named of ancient mythology figures. Does that really bother you?
Btw, Pluto was removed from the list of planets 8 years ago. Welcome to 2006. :D
Nothing actually changed. Nor did astronomers goof. They just redefined "planet" because of the large number of dwarf planets that seem to be out there.
