So, in this thread, I will describe/review various pokemon games and other similiar non-pokemon games.
Pokemon Red, Blue, & Yellow
Pokemon got it's start in the video game world with Pokemon Red & Blue (in America). It soon turned into a phenomanon. Pokemon Red & Blue Versions are basically the same game. They share the same plot, only certain pokemon only appear in one version or the other. Your character travels the land of Kanto (based on a region of Japan) trading, battling, and raising little critters into stronger more formidable creatures. These two games are classics, but there is only 151 pokemon to choose from.
Pokemon Gold, Silver, & Crystal
The second generation took place on the Gameboy Color. For the first time ever you could see all your pocket monsters in color! It also added about 100 new pokemon for you to train and capture. Some say this is the best generation, while others say it is the worst because it didn't really add much.
Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, & Emerald
Even more pokemon were introduced in the third generation. With the enhanced graphics of the Gamboy Advance, and the backlit screen of the Gameboy Advance SP, Pokemon looked better than ever. Berries and various activites relating to them were introduced, as well as competitions (Poke-Beauty Contests)
Pokemon Leaf Green & Fire Red
These are remakes of pokemon Red & Blue. Great for nostalgia.
Pokemon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum
The latest games brought in yet again more new pokemon, and had Wi-Fi.
Future of Pokemon
Remakes of Pokemon Gold & Silver ( Heart Gold & Soul Silver) are coming out in 2010.
Alternatives - DragonQuest Monsters & Spectrobes
DragonQuest is an epic series produced by Enix, produces of Final Fantasy. A spin-off of the series, which turned into it's own series, is called DragonQuest Monsters. The latest game in the series is DragonQuest Monsters: Joker. The player collects, breeds, an battles a group of three monsters. The plot is solid, with a few twists, and there is an online tournament.
Spectrobes is Disney's version of Pokemon. Spectrobes are awakened from fossils by the sound of your voice. Disney's online chatrooms, "D-Gamer" is included with Spectrobes: Beyond the Portals. You can also buy/sell spectrobes, and battle online. Even if the story and script is a little generic and campy, the monsters sill look pretty powerful.
So there you have it. Enjoy & Discuss.
