Word to the wise. Always be aware of low door opening when pulling boat out of shed with the trolling motor in deployed position. Wreaks havoc with the motor shaft and it's a bit of job replacing it. Was doing some early season maintenance and had deployed the trolling motor to get it out of my way.
Forgot it was up and decided to pull the boat out of the shed so I could hook up the garden hose to run the outboard. Heard a clunk and then remembered I had that motor up in the air. Cost about $120.00 for parts with shipping and taxes.
The shaft is threaded into the motor housing and then secured with red Locktite. Had to heat up the motor housing around the threads to about 500° to get it loose. Spent a fair amount of time cleaning the old Locktite out of the threads so I could screw the new shaft in and secure it with new Locktite. All good now!
Just sharing some "expertise" with other boating enthusiasts.
