You cant beat that loyalty of that bread. I had a german shephard that was all brown as in cholocate brown. :crying I had to put it to sleep, and it was a good guard dog. Sasha hated all men except me.

The thing was abused when i got it and it attacked a family member. I tried to find it a home, but no one could take it. I had Sasha for three yrs.

She played with my current dog Cheyenne.

I got Cheyenne to just sit up there on that couch. She wants me to pet her and i had the camera aimed at her.

It's 830 pm est time now, five minutes after i took that shot, and i took that with a 10.1 megapixel camera.
I cant modify the file as i opened it in the wrong one when i was going to post it here. Thanks for fixing that.

my wife loved your wolf avatar there john, that's why i started this thread, she was curious on how many had a wolf or a wolf mix. Did your hybrid howl? Mine does at times.

O yes he howled..every time i played drums, a firetruck, police car or ambulance went by and sometimes just because, lol

cute one, that is something that cheyenne would do.

john, cheyenne does that too, especially with ambulances and firetrucks.

I've always loved dogs and have always had a dog or two. Most of mine have been "pound" dogs.
We rescued the little terrier mix below who was scheduled for "the end", and he has been a joy for 4 years now. (he even sleeps on my bed). The greyhound is a retired racer, one that was also a rescue. We found his racing record, and he was very good, and won a lot of races. But the owner didn't want him any more after he had made the necessary money off him - say, don't you think? Now, in his retirement, he loves to eat, sleep, and take walks

I wish I had a picture of a dog I used to own years ago. Called him JR.
JR was part timberwolf and part german shepherd and was bred from a fellow near Missoula Montana. He was a beautiful dog. Smart, you wanna talk smart. Out of all the dogs I've ever owned, he's the one I miss.

JR loved kids. Any kid could come right up and pull on his ears and he never once even showed a sign of aggression. However, if you were an adult, he didn't want anything to do with ya. I took him to our family reunion in northern Idaho and unless I was with him, he wouldn't let anyone except the kids come near him.

He was the easiest to train and best trained dog I've ever owned. He healed without a leash and wouldn't bat an eye if an agressive dog came running toward us and he knew there was a fence between us an the other dog. Heck, I could tell him to sit and stay, and it didn't matter where I told him to do it, and three hours later he wouldn't have moved an inch.

JR loved to go with me everywhere I went, and boy could I tell some stories. Anyway, one I'll share is the time I went into the rental center for a tool I didn't have and JR was barking and growling loud enough to where I could hear it inside the store. Now, you have to know that this is something JR never did... so I didn't think it was my dog barking and growling at first. So, I go to the window to take a look, and a lady had parked next to our car and as I looked out, she was slapping a child in the rear seat of her car... JR didn't take kindly to that.

One more story I'll tell, is that if my dog liked (tolerated) you, I liked you. If my dog didn't like you, you weren't my friend as I trusted his since of who was good and who wasn't better than I trusted my own discernment at the time. Anyway, one day me and some friends were sitting on the front lawn when a car pulls up, a man gets out of the car and starts walking up to us. JR, who was laying comfortably a few feet away from me looked up and then put his head back down to rest. It's the most relaxed I had ever seen him with anyone, especially sombody we didn't know... come to find out, the man was a concerned preacher who had gotten my name and wanted to talk to me... He even came up and pet JR, who seemed to enjoy it.

Anyway, hope you've enjoyed the stories as much as I've enjoyed reliving them :)

John,
Why is your dog on a chain? It looks like you've got a lot of room for him to run. :crying

John,

It was just for the picture. I think the chain is long gone, buried in the dirt due to the non use of it. He is a house dog.

Glad to hear John :clap I hate seeing dogs stuck on chains...

I have a shepherd lab mix and a few years ago a fellow purchased the field a couple hundred feet from our property and built a house... put in nice landscaping etc. Well, my dog was curious and of course he's going to go out and check it out... The home owner wasn't too pleased, even accused my dog of killing some of his plants due to my dog's urine.. and then he wanted me to put my dog on a chain... uhhh, don't think so...

Anyway, I told the guy that I wasn't going to put my dog on a chain which didn't please my new neighbor..., and that he was just going to have to give this some time while I trained my dog not to go over there. Guess what? It only took a few months and we haven't had an issue since and no, my dog does not go over to "his" property.

BTW, yes, I get a long great with my neighbor just in case anyone was wondering :)
