[__ Prayer __] Praise for answered prayer...

Don't laugh, but I have been praying for enough courage to try to stop smoking again, after many failures over many years. I was fearing failure too much to even try. Obviously you can't succeed if you don't try. Have been embarrassed to ask others to pray for me, since I have failed so many times.

Haven't smoked in 11 hours. God helped me to try again. Being a slave to fear means never getting to fight the real problem. 11 hours isn't much, but it beats Ø. So I praise God for helping me get past fear of failure to try again!

Good for you jodetoad! Cigarettes are the devil, lol!

I quit 2 yrs. ago after 40 something yrs. When one really wants to they can & won't need any excuses to fail. I used the nicoderm patch though. I was too hard core to succeed without it.
But once I tapered off with the patch, from 21mg. to 14mg to the 7mg (I think it was about a 3 month course) the worst was over. The physical addiction to nicotine that held me in a vicious circular bondage every time the bloodstream needed a fix for the brain!
The cravings took another year. Find a substitute for that. I chewed on sugarless gum a lot & made a real bigger deal out of my daily coffee.
There is a "depression" with quitting at 1st- but it's a good sign actually, that sadness. It means your letting your feelings out & no longer using cigarettes to control your mood.
My old friend cigarettes turned out to be a real health hazard - so I gave it a proper funeral. Better it than me, right?

And, I made sure I didn't gain any weight (I always had disciple for that- thank God)

I was so hard core I disconnected my own oxygen when I was in labor & smoked in the bathroom! But both kids were 7-11- thank God- but it was now time to quit while I was still ahead & well.

Anyway, now I talk too much! Just kidding.

God Bless & good luck. You can do it!
