Usually when the north east section of the country is being slammed with a nor'easter, the south east has to deal with some severe, if less news worthy, weather as well. Last night was no exception. A squall line moved through the Gulf of Mexico, coming on shore in the early morning hours.

From Tampa Bay southward, there was next to nothing as far as rainfall. :( However, north of Tampa, the storms moved on shore, bringing with it flooding, heavy winds and funnel clouds. A funnel cloud is a tornado that does not touch the ground. There was one reported tornado.

News reports this evening showed video from the news helicopters. Areas with widespread street flooding ~ with the flood waters stopping short of the front doors of the houses shown.
The only report of a tornado touching down was in Pasco County. It hit a temporary housing portion of a minimal security women's jail there. Reports claim that a decision was made to move the inmates into the concrete main building just moments before the twister ripped the temporary building to shreds. This decision is credited with saving possibly 200 lives!

May each and every one of those lives be changed as a result!
