This was a standardized/memorised prayer said by Jesus (and most others) at mealtimes.

Loud cries
Often said out loud at the Temple in earshot of the Holy of Holies. Usually with great emotions/heart felt pleadings involved. This one is from the formula in Genesis and Exodus " God hears, God looks to see if it is true, God remembers/acts. (God never actually forgets but the true Hebrew doesn't actually translate well)

Tears.
These sorts of prayers cut through every barrier in reaching God's ears. Even the silent ones. God hears the quiet, silent sound of his Children's heart breaking over the din and cries to win the lottery EVERY time.
God may delay (according to our ideas) actions. (As in the case of Israelites in Egypt before Moses was sent...80+ years) But God always knows and hears. (Unless you are a heathen)
