Hello, all.
I’ll try to keep this brief, though I doubt I’ll succeed.
We live in Tennessee. My father-in-law is in the Air Force. He is now stationed in Georgia, where he has been spending weeks at a time since his new job and promotion.
A few months ago, he had mentioned perhaps moving to Georgia permanently to make it easier on him. He and my wife’s mom are divorced, their oldest son is currently in the military (currently in school in Texas, will be moving to Georgia upon completion), and their youngest son is 16, and would also go to Georgia. At the time, he said he may think about letting my wife and I move into his house if he moved.
Well, this has now become official. At the moment, we’re looking at a time-frame of late October/early November for the move. We have 3 kids and live in a small apartment currently. This move would be an enormous blessing to us.
Here’s the thing. We will basically take over the mortgage payments when we move in, which will increase our housing bill by about $300. This is infinitely doable, if we clean up a few things between now and then. With one vehicle, and my wife still desiring to stay home with the kids, I am now looking for a second job I can work part-time, so we can get ready for this transition.
What I’m up against is my availability, because I cannot sacrifice my current job, which is an excellent one that pays well currently, and will pay us more than enough a few years down the line. So my availability is limited to about 7am to 1pm, which limits my options.
Quick pause. I have a call to ministry, and have been working and studying to that end for a few years now, but that’s another story for another time.
I would love for this to be my opportunity to “get my foot in the door†in ministry, but I don’t know if that’s where God will place me. In all honesty, I will take anything that can work with my availability, and will pay me the little bit of money I need to make this happen.
So I want to ask you to agree with me in prayer that the Lord will open doors quickly, and that He will show me which one to go through. That He would give me guidance and, if necessary, patience as I start this journey that frankly already has me a bit frustrated.
Apologies for the length, but I think most of you know by now there’s not much I can say quickly. ;)
God bless.
