Prayer Requests?

I've never understood them. Please don't think I'm trying to stir anything up, I'm just kind of thinking out loud about this and would like your comments.

I understand the promise in Mathew 18:20 "For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them." but I've never understood prayer requests.

I know there has been occasion in the Bible where God has changed His mind because of a requests made by one of his followers, but I've always sort of thought that if it's not in God's will when one person asks, why would he change his mind if 20 ask.

On the other hand, I have a hard time asking God for anything in the first place. I mean, I generally pray for His will to be done, and for Him to bless me with the peace and contentment that only comes with accepting His will. I'll pray for God to use an event to do His work, and maybe for Him to be with/comfort someone, but much other than that and I feel like I'm trying to plan how stuff should happen like I know more than Him. LOL.

Don't worry God owns a cattle on a thousand hills. He is more willing to give than we would to our own children. Don't be afraid to ask. Christ said, Ask and it shall be given, seek and you will find, knock and it will be open to you.

Ask
Seek
Knock

The Lord likes to see us prayerfully dependent on Him. And He likes to hear prayers in the name of His beloved Son, who purchased redemption at the Cross at such a great cost.

Oh I'm prayerfully dependent, but it's usually for guidance (and forgiveness in Christs name don't wanna forget that).

I do admit that I occasionally pray for what I want Him to do. For instance, the other day I was halter breaking 3 colts (something I'm NOT qualified to do) and I prayed through every step... 'Lord, please make them take the halter without hurting themselves or me. Please make them learn to lead quickly. Please help me get these horses halter broke before the sale.' but then I always feel kind of embarrassed that I'm telling God how to run things. You know what I mean... what if His will is for them to not go to this sale because of something He has planned for next week. I mean, He knows much better than I what needs to be done, so I try to just pray for His will and for my acceptance of that.

But I'm kind of off topic with the ideas in my last paragraph. Really I'm just wondering if there is anything scriptural to support the idea of prayer request lists? There may very well be, and I'd be glad to see it I'm FAR from an expert in God's Word and it's just something I've wondered about.
