Bible Study Pre-Marital Sex

G

I was wondering where it says in the Bible that pre-marital sex is a sin. I can't find it.

porneuo(the Greek)

proneuw porneuo porn-yoo'-o

from 4204; to act the harlot, i.e. (literally) indulge unlawful lust (of either sex), or (figuratively) practise idolatry:--commit (fornication).

porneia

porneia porneia por-ni'-ah

from 4203; harlotry (including adultery and incest); figuratively, idolatry:--fornication

1Corinthians 7:2 (KJV) Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.

Colossians 3:5 (KJV) Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

(concupiscence just means unbridled sensuality)

Speaking of Jezebel...

Revelation2:21 (KJV) And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not.

To answer that question properly, you really have to understand what marriage is. Forget the secular definition of marriage. There were no priests/pastors/judges when the first marriage was performed.

I'd be glad to post more about this if necessary, but it would be better for me to direct you to this link where others besides myself have given their interpretations of this issue:

The First Marriage

Quite right. The act of sex itself was often the binding act which constituted 'marriage' many times throughout the Bible.

But, fornication, as used to describe premarital sex, is written of throughout the Bible.
