Here is the "long list" of supposed scientists that favor the teaching ID in the classroom. I wonder why they are all named Steve or some derivative of Steve.

Do you ever actually read anything you post here? This is the homepage from your "ID" site you sent us to:

National Center for Science Education
Defending the Teaching of Evolution in the Public Schools
Welcome!
The National Center for Science Education (NCSE) defends the teaching of evolution in public schools. We are a nationally-recognized clearinghouse for information and advice to keep evolution in the science classroom and "scientific creationism" out. NCSE is the only national organization to specialize in this issue.

Bummer having a reading comprehension problem, huh? Don't you wish public schools actually taught a kid how to think and read at the same time? No wonder you're an Evolutionist.

The point of the site is to mock people who try to use lists of scientists to support ID as if the number of scientists makes it more acceptable. They take only scientists named Steve in order to show how many scientists are out there support evolution.

It is poking a little fun at the people who submit those "see how many scientists (often including accountants, ministers, etc) who oppose evolution" scams.

"How many Steves do you have?" is often a sure-fire stopper to that nonsense.

I should have realized you would need more to understand the post ,so here it is from the same site and yes I will cut and paste to make it easy.

NCSE Project Steve
NCSE's "Project Steve" is a tongue-in-cheek parody of a long-standing creationist tradition of amassing lists of "scientists who doubt evolution" or "scientists who dissent from Darwinism." (For examples of such lists, see the FAQs.)

Creationists draw up these lists to convince the public that evolution is somehow being rejected by scientists, that it is a "theory in crisis." Most members of the public lack sufficient contact with the scientific community to know that this claim is totally unfounded. NCSE has been exhorted by its members to compile a list of thousands of scientists affirming the validity of the theory of evolution, but although we easily could have done so, we have resisted such pressure. We did not wish to mislead the public into thinking that scientific issues are decided by who has the longer list of scientists!

Project Steve mocks this practice with a bit of humor, and because "Steves" are only about 1% of scientists, it incidentally makes the point that tens of thousands of scientists support evolution. And it honors the late Stephen Jay Gould, NCSE supporter and friend.

We'd like to think that after Project Steve, we'll have seen the last of bogus "scientists doubting evolution" lists, but it's probably too much to ask. We do hope that at least when such lists are proposed, reporters and other citizens will ask, "but how many Steves are on your list!?"

The statement reads:
Evolution is a vital, well-supported, unifying principle of the biological sciences, and the scientific evidence is overwhelmingly in favor of the idea that all living things share a common ancestry. Although there are legitimate debates about the patterns and processes of evolution, there is no serious scientific doubt that evolution occurred or that natural selection is a major mechanism in its occurrence. It is scientifically inappropriate and pedagogically irresponsible for creationist pseudoscience, including but not limited to "intelligent design," to be introduced into the science curricula of our nation's public schools.

Yeah, we got that, guys. We, who actually read the site. At least we read it far enough to see it was another snide poke at creationists. Someone should be in charge of explaining these things to rez, before he posts.

You’re too kind. Methinks he’s missing a lot.

Sorry, reznwerks, the devil made me do it. I just had to see if you would try a deceptive cover up or belly up and admit you were wwwrr r rong. Your use of the derogatory “supposed scientists†gave you away. It doesn’t matter what you use to mop up with or how many of your buddies add to the pile between you and your gaffe, you know and I know. It’s quite an understandable error when you’re posting in a hurry. We’re all human. Why not just say, “Hey, I made a mistake†instead of trying to appear infallible?

Back to your lives, citizens. There’s nothing to see here.

Understandable how he got confused. Scientists don't usually go in for nonsense of that sort. It was a parody, and a gentle poke at the creationists' habit of compiling a list of people (qualified or not) who don't like evolution.

The gag, of course, is there are far more PhD biologists named "Steve" who accept evolution than all the creationist lists of dentists, accountants, hair stylists, etc. who don't.
