Prophesy check. What do you think?

Hi!
I'm old, but new to the site.
I've been studying the Bible for many years, and it goes on.
I've also studied science, and it goes on. And I believe that the truth will agree with both.

Isaiah 58
In a far away place a long time ago (that is, the Pacific Northwest in the late 70's) a congregation received a “message from the Lordâ€Â.
On three successive Sundays, the “message†was Isaiah 58. On the third Sunday, a man came in from Florida and stood up and said that the Lord had impressed him to tell us that Isaiah 58 was a message for our congregation.
I was a new Christian then and was very excited to know what Isaiah 58 had to do with our congregation. No one volunteered, so I asked around, we all had read it, but couldn’t see how it had anything to do with us.

Fast:
So I took it on myself to fast, pray and study Isaiah 58 for a week. My fast was to just eat vegetable soup.

Visions and verification:
The visions began on Friday just after I got to work. The Spiritual presence was overwhelming, yet somehow I was able to negotiate an arrangement so that my job for that day would be completed and that the interpretation of the visions would be witnessed on the Christian radio station I was listening to.
All day long as the interpretation of a vision was progressing there would occasionally be a matching phrase on the radio just after the words I heard in my head.

The visions:
The visions and explanations are lengthy. Only a list of the visions are listed to save time and space.
See note below.

The message:
The message is in 2 parts:
The first part we’ve all heard time and agin and know it well. About going to church on Sunday and worshiping and praising the Lord and then afterward Going on about our lives as if we never even knew Jesus at all.
The second part of the message begins after Isaiah 58:6. See also Zech 7:5 and Mt 25:31.
This is the real essence of being Christian. To help someone at some cost to you! A real fast!
It’s very unfortunate that The Golden Rule (Mt 22:37) seems like some sort of trite saying.
I used to think of it in this way; to put God first was to obey the 10 commandments and then that treat your neighbor as yourself meant, to be nice to others, give them a little respect.
Now I understand The Golden Rule to mean: To Put God first is to trust Him completely, that is; to depend on Him for daily, moment to moment; needs. To treat your neighbor as yourself, is to give your life away, just as Jesus did; being there for others, before yourself. To be, as if you had no “self-preservation instinctâ€Â.
It’s self-evident that no one can achieve this kind of life style. (Jesus, of coarse did) We can only strive for, or have that kind of attitude.

Dependance on God the Father is absolutely necessary to try to live in this way.

I have a very long way to go; however, my wife who was raised as a Christian by an ordained preacher, is showing me that it is real! That is, we can depend on God for our daily needs. Sometimes when something happens, my wife and I will look at each other and say, “Just in time!†We no longer believe in coincidence, we believe in God. Wasn’t it a Catholic Bishop of Chicago who said, “Whenever I pray, a coincidence happens.â€Â

Second verification:
After the visions experience, I gave a lot of thought of joining a Salvation Army church (for obvious reasons) or one of the Gospel missions downtown. But after talking to my pastor, a very spirit filled and a mature Shepard, I decided to just join a couple of our church ministries.
However, I always felt as if there was something missing. And many years later I decided to visit a Salvation Army Church in our area. My timing was off, so I went to one of the Sunday school classes before the service.
The class was on fasting and the study scripture was Isaiah 58! And I knew I wasn’t there by a coincidence. I held back as long as I could, hoping for some easy way out. Finally I had to speak, and I pointed out the kind of fast that God wants is not to deny yourself food; but to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, house the homeless and so on.
My classmates were all looking at me with blank expressions; then they smiled, and began nodding their heads.
After the class I was astonished when a few of the folks in the class came over and asked me if I was an Angel!
I said no, I lived in town and was born in Omaha.

One way to start:
To make sure that your giving is of God and not wasted, is to pray first. Not only to show you someone that He wants you to help, but also for the means to do so.

Welcome papajoe,

You might want to copy your OP to the prophesy section of the forum. Anyway welcome. Prophesy has always been apart of the church as well as part of Israel's life as a nation. There are those who don't believe that prophesy survived the early church or saw no need for it thereafter - but life other officies and gifts - in various forms they have always been there - that's my opinion anyway. Ultimately it is up to church to verify and clarify what a prophetic message means - individuals can also offer interpretations. As we move into the end of the age - the church will increase in its prophetic stature - considering that many churches are disengaged as far as prophesy is concerned it will be an uphill and difficult road.

Welcome again to the forum.
