Pro 2:1 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, And lay up my commandments with thee;
Pro 2:2 So as to incline thine ear unto wisdom, And apply thy heart to understanding;
Pro 2:3 Yea, if thou cry after discernment, And lift up thy voice for understanding;
Pro 2:4 If thou seek her as silver, And search for her as for hid treasures:
Pro 2:5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of Jehovah, And find the knowledge of God.

Pro 8:17 I love them that love me; And those that seek me diligently shall find me. Luk 11:9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
Luk 11:10 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

Pro 2:1 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, And lay up my commandments with thee;
Pro 2:2 So as to incline thine ear unto wisdom, And apply thy heart to understanding;

Deu 11:18 Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul; and ye shall bind them for a sign upon your hand, and they shall be for frontlets between your eyes.

Your hand = your actions
Your eyes = view life through the Gospel, not through your own eyes and experiences.

Isa 11:3 And his delight shall be in the fear of Jehovah; and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither decide after the hearing of his ears;

Walk after the Spirit ; do not judge after the sight of your eyes nor the hearing of your ears. Only judge after what God promises through His Word. Rom 3:4 God forbid: yea, let God be found true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy words, And mightest prevail when thou comest into judgment.

Isa 11:3 And his delight shall be in the fear of Jehovah; and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither decide after the hearing of his ears;

Rom 3:4 God forbid: yea, let God be found true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy words, And mightest prevail when thou comest into judgment.

Why are we justified in our words ? Because faith agrees with God against circumstances and it is accounted as righteousness when we agree with God.For what saith the scripture? And Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned unto him for righteousness. Rom 4:3

Abraham believed before seeing.

Isa 11:3 And his delight shall be in the fear of Jehovah; and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither decide after the hearing of his ears;

How do we prevail in a judgement ? Through our words of faith. A judgement is anything that resembles the curse. Many trial and tribulations (judgments) come upon us (remember Job? )Job 31:30 (Yea, I have not suffered by mouth to sin By asking his life with a curse);

We prevail if we stand on the Word and not give in to fear and doubt.

If we disagree with the Word, we sin. We come against God. We murmur against God, when we refuse to believe His promises of healing, supply, salvation, freedom from bondage, freedom from sin etc. Then we fall in the wilderness of our judgement. God will do to us, that which we have spoken "in His ears"

Num 14:27 How long shall I bear with this evil congregation, that murmur against me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against me.
Num 14:28 Say unto them, As I live, saith Jehovah, surely as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you:
Num 14:29 your dead bodies shall fall in this wilderness;

How did they murmur and speak against God. Well they did not believe His promise that He will indeed take them into the Promised Land.

The Promise :

Gen 28:4 And give thee the blessing of Abraham, to thee, and to thy seed with thee. That thou mayest inherit the land of thy sojournings, which God gave unto Abraham.

The murmur:

Exo 16:3 and the children of Israel said unto them, Would that we had died by the hand of Jehovah in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh-pots, when we did eat bread to the full; for ye have brought us forth into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger.

Speaking against the promise brings the opposite of the promise.

Num 14:29 your dead bodies shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, that have murmured against me,

Num 14:29 your dead bodies shall fall in this wilderness;

Truth!

1Cr 10:5-13 Nevertheless, with most of them God was not pleased, for they were overthrown in the wilderness. Now these things took place as examples for us, that we might not desire evil as they did. Do not be idolaters as some of them were; as it is written, "The people sat down to eat and drink and rose up to play." We must not indulge in sexual immorality as some of them did, and twenty-three thousand fell in a single day. We must not put Christ to the test, as some of them did and were destroyed by serpents, nor grumble, as some of them did and were destroyed by the Destroyer. Now these things happened to them as an example, but they were written down for our instruction, on whom the end of the ages has come. Therefore let anyone who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall. No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

And what is the way of escape? The Words of God. What is it that overcomes?

1Jo 5:4 For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world--our faith.

And what do we know about faith?

Rom 10:17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

PS: I am not much on proof texting, but the context of all these passages give credence to the context I am using them in here also.

Good stuff Cornelius.

Praise God :)

A thought on "prooftexting". People forget that the Bible has a context as a whole . Psa 119:160 The sum of thy word is truth So as long as we speak within the context of the whole message it is fine. That is why I use scripture to back up scripture. It is a revelation unfolding in the whole Word.

There is the written code. This spills blood and brings death through will worship.

There is the written witness to the resurrection. This makes us wise in our conceit through voluntary humility.

There is the Voice of Jesus speaking to us through his blood from the new Jerusalem which is above, the free woman, the mother of us all.

Isa 11:3
3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears: KJV

Judgment does not come through reading/the sight of the eyes.

Another great study, C! I don't have time right now to look up the scripture but this reminds me that our "work of God" is our faith and when we're not doing that work, it's not good as we see with the Israelites.

God bless you!

Amen, we cannot make decisions based on what our senses (eyes) perceive. We cannot judge any situation according to our senses. If Jesus judged according to His senses, then He would not have been able to walk on water.

Joh 6:28 They said therefore unto him, What must we do, that we may work the works of God?
Joh 6:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

C,
Yes, and when Peter started using his senses, then he started to sink.
I just learned about how the 5 kings and our senses. Cool confirmation.
