PSALM 37:23,24

"The steps of a man are established by YHVH. And He delights in his way. When he falls he will not be hurled headlong, because YHVH is the One who holds his hand."

This is just a small midrash. This Psalm is sung/chanted in Hebrew with a lovely melody. What is the LORD saying here?

Adonai has already established man's "steps" or, as one could say "his days are already known by Adonai, what decisions he is going to make are already history, for God who is outside of time and space.

He delights in his ways. I think one could say; "In the ways of the righteous" As born-again believers, we make decisions according to God's WORD, (or at least, that is what we should do). Life is not about us, but about serving the LORD.

Yes, we might have our routine, our daily grind, problems that come up, and they WILL come up, that's why the LORD says...WHEN he falls...because FALL we will, in one way or another, yet the fall will not be a complete disaster. We will suffer, but we will recover. He will put us on the right path again. If we are truly saved, then, we will want to walk the path again, and not run aside into the prickers and thorns.

HE holds our hand. Of course, there is not a literal hand, but through the Holy Spirit, it is HE who guides us, the Spirit of God is the "hand" that hold our hand.

One could say, "Hand in hand, we walk the way of life, in spite of trouble and strife, He will not let us go, and so our spiritual walk will thus grow."
(hey, I just made this up) But hey, makes sense.

Shalom
