I'm interested in visiting one of their meetings. Does anyone have a personal experience with them?

I don't have any experience with Quakers. I like their oatmeal... :D

Nikki,
I don't have personal experience with them , though I have been told they have a strong beleif that God is in all people and believe in peace and forgivness. They are also against violence no matter what the reason.

Bleessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God.

I am a member of Quakin Friends. It is a sub-group, not really a branch or splinter group, of the Quaker Church. The Quakers are made of two main branches. They are known as "Friends of the Truth" (otherwise known as Friends), and then there are the "Seekers of the Light" (Seekers). The Friends are the most prominent of the two. And I will say that many of you on this board will be hard pressed to agree with their (Quakin Friends) doctrine.

To their benefit, the Quaker Church has displayed a much more noble approach to controversial doctrine than nearly any other organized church I am personally aware of. But tolerance and acceptance is one of their strengths.

I have a question for the Mods here: Would it be a violation of the TOS to post a link to the Quakin Friends website in this post?

It may be that it is. So until I hear otherwise, I won't post it. But if any of you are interested, PM me, and I will aquaint you with the Quakin Friends.

Since it is not a non-Christian group the link should be fine.

Thanks, LD.

I didn't want to overstep my bounds here.
The Link to Quakin Friends is Quakin Friends

I somehow misspelled Quakin the first time through. It is Quakin, not Qakin.

But Nikki, be advised, the link I posted will have other links to the Quakers. If you want answers straight from the source, the link will take you there. Also, take a look at fgcquaker.org for more information. A very informative website into who the Quakers are.

A taste of Quaker humor:

One Quaker farmer is said to have addressed his misbehaving cow at milking time: "Thou knowest that I will not swear at thee. And thou knowest that I will not strike thee. But what thou dost not know, cow, is that I might sell thee to a Baptist who would beat the devil out of thee."

Taken from Link.....

Some would call us a Christian Universalist Fellowship.

If, like us, you believe that God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself, that he truly saves all humankind, and reconciles all things back to God, then we want to hear from you. Please email us.

When asked if we are Universalist we answer in the affirmative.

Uh Oh...

Jamima and her "Friends" settled in the area where I live, they even got a road named after them. Thats about all I know though, I never studied there beliefs. I should look into it.
