Thinking about buying a new bike and focused now on this Yamaha xs650.
Dolores really likes the backrest. I'm not sure if I like the "much lower retro style bars". My 500 had the higher bars and they would seem natural I think. Still, I've never been on a bike with low bars, have to try.
Back when I had my old 500 Yamaha myself and some friends took a ride from North Jersey to the Blue Ridge mountains and another to Custy's restaurant in Rhode Island for all you can eat lobster. Other than that it was my only method of transportation so I rode summer and winter and everything in between, every day several times a day going from job to job. Back then I had three so I worked and rode and didn't do much else. Snow and ice didn't matter, I had to get to work. Eventually got my first house. I sold the 500 for money to buy an engagement ring for my first wife. Should have kept the bike, of the two that's the one I miss. I know that's a bit hard to take for fellow believers sometimes but its the truth, I really do miss that bike.
Now after 25ish years I might just end up on a bike again. A little while shifting and riding at a safe place I know of and it will all come back to me, I hope. At one time it was as second nature as walking so it should.
At the time when I wasn't working I was playing golf at this cheap course I could play 18 for $6. Got so I could bend a ball around a tree and put it on the green with consistency. Tried a couple years ago and golfing didn't stay with me so good...so who knows. Ought to be interesting.
Any riders out there?
