ACTS 4
13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.
。
HOLY BOLDNESS
The apostles had just said one of the most amazing things in all scripture, they had told the Jewish leaders that Jesus was the only way to salvation, meaning that their religious practices were of no use at all.
These apostles were just uneducated men, fishermen etc, but here they were telling the Jewish leaders that Jesus was the only answer.
What was the thing that stood out for these Jewish leaders about the apostles? There was something about them, what was it?
They had been with Jesus. Great men and women are not filled with human knowledge, they are filled with the knowledge of God and his word. They haven't spent much time at human agencies, but they have spent much time at the feet of the Master. Luke 10:38-42.
It is the same for us, when we spend time with Jesus in prayer and Bible reading and just listening to his voice. It is evident to those around you. Look at Moses, when he came down from the mountain, his face shone.
You do not have to be of high education to be able to speak for God, you need to spend lots of time with Jesus listening to his voice, personally as he speaks to you and by reading the bible.
These apostles had spent time with Jesus... have you?
Matthew Henry says
Note, Those that have been with Jesus, in converse and communion with him, have been attending on his word, praying in his name, and celebrating the memorials of his death and resurrection, should conduct themselves, in everything, so that those who converse with them may take knowledge of them that they have been with Jesus; and this makes them so holy, and heavenly, and spiritual, and cheerful; this has raised them so much above this world, and filled them with another. One may know that they have been in the mount by the shining of their faces.
God bless you

ACTS 6:5, 8, 10
5 Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit...
8 And Stephen, full of grace and power, was doing great wonders and signs among the people.
10 But they could not withstand the wisdom and the Spirit with which he was speaking.
WHAT ARE YOU FULL OF?
This passage speaks of a man by the name of Stephen, whom the Apostles appointed to be a Deacon in the early church. Stephen is a beautiful and glorious illustration of what each Christian should be known for…being full of faith and the Holy Spirit. To be full means to be “under the influence.” Stephen was influenced by his faith and the Holy Spirit. This resulted in two divine attributes: 1) The ability to perform great wonders, and 2) Divine wisdom that gave him the ability to use the scriptures to defend the message of the gospel against those who sought to attack it.
When the enemies of Christ could not withstand the wisdom that was in Stephen, they decided to silence him by taking his life. Stephen is the first martyr of the church, and while he may not have lived a long life, his legacy is one of faithfulness, compassion for his enemies and a profound love for Jesus Christ.
As believers, we have the choice of being full of the Spirit, or full of ourselves. Here is the thing: When we are filled with the Holy Spirit, there is an abundance of joy and peace. When we are full of ourselves, there is an emptiness, a void, that leaves us frustrated and defeated.
The good news is that what Stephen was full of, is available to us. God's Spirit is still the same! His power is still the same!
So, What are you full of? Let's be full of what Stephen was full of, because when we are, no one will be able to stand against us.
God bless you
