Hi you all,
I feel kind of embarassed to post so soon again after announcing not to post again :
I have been reading the posts as one of the lurkers every day and have urge to post again.
It is very difficult to reach out to people who feel they have everything they need and no need of God in wealthy countries.
My brother is an acoholic and when I talked to him about Jesus, he blurted out that he respects Jesus' teachings but he does not join Him.
He understands that following Jesus involves sacrifice and would change his lifestyle; in other words he is plain lazy and doesn't want to be a giving person.
We have to be very clever talking to those kind of people. We have to find their blind spot. We cannot pursuade people if we are not wholeheartedly committed to God and Jesus.
Jesus tells us to make disciples of all nations. We should not give them impression that all we need is a one-time confession and we are ok and saved. When we give this kind of impression we are recruiting many kinds of pretenders, and it is evil because this kind of faith does nothing but work against God and Jesus.
BTW, when I was a non-believer I used to call my brother a lazy bum but I stopped those kind of behavior; that's why at least he has been giving me listening ears.
