Bible Study Reading the Bible in pieces...?

Do you read the whole Bible as a whole, or do you just pick out verses here and there for your beliefs?
Reading verses only is like looking at a painting and only seeing one element, and not seeing the whole painting. That is fine to do that, but you should also want to look at the whole painting.
I think we would all do a lot better if we read the Bible through, and not just pick out verses here and there, so we can get the full picture of God's Word. You will find complete thoughts and not just bits of thoughts. You will read entire passages instead accidently taking things out of context.
Good day and God bless. :)

Doesn't have to be one or the other. Most certainly we need to have a global view of scripture and keep in mind context when we quote certain passages. Some passages do make a point on their own that does not violate the context.

Agree with Christine and Thess.

But, whatever we read in the Bible, whether a few verses or few chapters or few books, we need to understand as much correctly as possible in order to be benefitted.

Sometimes we tend to forget some verses which we read, so it is always good to make it a regular practice of reading our Bible except under any unavoidable circumstances. What we could not understand in an earlier reading we might understand in a later reading.

A Preacher's wife said, "It is better to stand and drink water rather than drink milk while we are running". It is better to read a few verses or a few chapters in a relaxed manner and understand them thoroughly than read complete books of the Bible in a hurry and forget them afterwards.

Ofcourse, there are days or weeks when we may not read the Bible as God is teaching us the meaning of the verses which we have learnt already. Or we may be hoping for a few promise-verses to be fulfilled in our lives.

Every person who is highly motivated through deep desire to grow in the Bible Scriptures would inevitably gain the growth over a period of time whether the person reads in pieces or whole.
