Really Fun News !

I know it sounds silly, but I got new tires today and I am SO HAPPY. I ordered tires that NTB and TireRack would not warranty to fit, but they DO fit - I got bigger tires in the rear than original. They look SO GOOD - they look about a foot wider, but really are only about 2 1/2 inches wider.

It cost me a lot of money (including the $30 tip I gave the guy* who put them all on for me) but it was worth it. I sure made his day when he realized there was a $20 under the $10! It makes ya feel good to make someone feel good, totally worth $30 to me. :thumbsup

I can't add a picture of my tires, 'cause I don't have software to shrink the pic for this site, but my FaceBook friends have already seen it!

(Is it odd that TIRES are a 'treat' to me? There was a time that a motorcycle or a new ham radio or a new gun or a new girlfriend or new furniture - was exciting to me. Now it's TIRES???? Only my car nut friends are gonna understand this...)

Anyway, just imagine my car pictured below with EVEN WIDER tires on the rear! ;)

* Nice guy, probably paid way too little, and he didn't scratch my rims or anything - and did the job in 45 minutes which they tell me is hard to do with such "low profile" tires.

That's cool man!

I just traded my Skid Plates off my Jeep Cherokee Sport for a GTX series bumper.
I never went off-roading anyway so I had no use for them.

I've owned a Jeep CJ5. (Loved it)
I've owned I don't even KNOW how many motorcycles (four that I can count). (Had a BLAST with them)
I've owned several pickups and one van. (Really got attached to most of them)

But I've never had the fun driving I have in my Roadster! And in 2012 dollars, this is probably the least comparatively expensive vehicle I've owned with four wheels.
(The Crossifre is actually the steal of the century, has been, almost, since introduced when they were often sold at 2/3 of sticker price, and they LOST VALUE from even THAT point quickly.)

No. I wish I could afford some rims and better rubber for my car. Food and mortgage keep getting in the way.

I'm enjoying not having kids in the house and all the expense that involves. (I went for over 10 years just trying to keep us fed, the lights on and the rent paid. I became Pizzaguy 'cause my oldest called me Pizza Dad - I made Pizza every Sunday night 'cause I could not afford to have it delivered!)

Anyway, running the curves on Mathis Airport Road this morning I thought "This car is stuck to the pavement like peanut butter to the roof of a dog's mouth!"

Well, went on a little trip to Nashville, TN today. I'm at a frien'ds house up here (looking at buying his car, similar to mine, but a LOT more horsepower.)

Anyway, on the way I was about 50 miles from home (about 1/5 of the way here) when I was not paying attention and got caught doing 74 in a 55 on a quiet country road. When the guy asked me where I was going in such a hurry, the truth was, "To buy a faster car". :toofunny

^^ You can be sure I didn't say that. ^^

Anyway,
You aren't gonna believe this, but I didn't get a ticket. Last fall, it was 68 in a 55 and I didn't get a ticket THEN, either.

I should teach a CLASS! ;)

(Who? Me? Cocky? Don't be silly...)

Having second thoughts on the car... I'm headed home at speeds of no more than 10 over today.

Hey, do we love you:chin, if so, then give us your take on these Words...

Psalm's 19

[12] Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults.
[13] Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.
[14] Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

--Elijah

I have no business being up this late but since I'm not gonna sleep ... here I am.

I like this translation better:

12 But who can discern their own errors?
Forgive my hidden faults.
<sup class="versenum">13 </sup>Keep your servant also from willful sins;
may they not rule over me.
Then I will be blameless,
innocent of great transgression. 14 May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart
be pleasing in your sight,
Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.

In 12 he is asking for any sin he commits that he does not realize to be forgiven (which I think is a given).
In 13 he is praying for help in avoiding willfull sins.
In 14 he is hopeful (prayerful) that his words would please the Lord as well as what is in his heart.

Speeding in your car is not a sin, Elijah. If that is what you are getting at.
(Well, actually - EVERYTHING we do is sin in some people's eyes, and in other people's eyes NOTHING is sin. I actually think the true christian is one who is in the 'center' of the two extremes.)

Probably not gonna buy the car, he's had it at the dragstrip many times - humiliates guys in Mustangs with it. This pushes the drive train to the limit (duh!) and I don't have $20,000 to spend on such activities, or more to the point, I don't have $20,000 to spend on the "used up" cars used for such activities.

I'll spend my money (less than $20,000 as well) on cars that have not seen such use.
I see it this way: He's enjoyed the car and wants to part with it before the "price" of such activity is "paid for".

But then, I am a naturally skeptical person. Some guys think that even MY car can withstand such use and last 200,000 miles. Not me.

Ha! I totally understand the bigger tires! When I got my new tires, I was posting pictures on facebook before I even cleaned the blue off the raised white letters! Even have a picture of them in the back seat lol!

Yup, nothing like a set of nice sticky tires to keep ya moving! I'm guessing right now being under carb'ed that I'm probably pushing 450 hp at the flywheel and with the 2800 stall, new springs and slide a links, I can't do a smokey burnout without power breaking. Nope, she sticks and goes!

BTW, chrome molly rings are just starting to seat, and boy can I feel the extra power, especially past 5000 rpm. Feels real good at 6500 except she's starving for gas and starts to ping past 6500. That being said, you'd slaughter me on the corners lol!

So we can just pick & choose the 'cival' laws that are OK? And in my years gone by I had been in several serious wrecks, that even then as a 'kid' I take responsibility for being in them. And as a father, what kind of example are some of us setting for our children? Or some here on this site? Be an average center of the road christian??

And of all of us on the site here posting?? Are all of these posts with NO ONE suggesting even, that you 'mature' & grow up:bounceball.. as God wants from us, are these honestly loving Christ & His own?

And to be around 'about My Fathers business' as Christ says, leaves me with NO DOUBTS about speeding down a highway for NO REASON other than it's thrill.:sad

And FRIEND, it is because 'we' care that I write this. But let it be known that you are in my wife & my twice daily devotionals.

There is a true story simulartor to this that I went through earlier in life that left me with its seriousness. Perhaps one day it will be told?

And SIN??? 1 John 3:4 has it defined.

Matt. 4
[5] Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,
[6] And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

[7] Jesus said unto him, It is written again, [[Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.]]

--Elijah

That being said, you'd slaughter me on the corners lol!
That's the only place I'd leave you behind - just like Mustangs, I don't stand a chance against them, until we get to the curves - then the road is mine! ;)

I am at work, observing a (BORING) UPS test... back after work everyone!

Ha, that's for sure! Tell you what, them little cars can really scoot! Buddy of mine has a TT roadster and it's a blast!

BTW, paint.net is a free software download for pictures. Enjoy!

P.S. Looks awesome!

I'll mature and grow up when I am old enough to! I realized about three years ago that life is way too short and is to be enjoyed. I spent 48 years of my life "waiting for when I'd be happy". Then I realized, I had to create it myself.

And to be around 'about My Fathers business' as Christ says, leaves me with NO DOUBTS about speeding down a highway for NO REASON other than it's thrill.:sad
You are getting the wrong idea, I don't drive 74 in a 55 all the time. In fact, Saturday I really wasn't paying attention until I saw the officer. (I realized something, my car shook at around 64 mph lately, it was 'cause of the old tires. NOW, it doesn't shake at all, Im not getting any "feedback" and have to learn to set the cruise OR keep looking at the speedometer.)

And FRIEND, it is because 'we' care that I write this. But let it be known that you are in my wife & my twice daily devotionals.
I am very humbled and thankful for that. It was the fervent prayers of a middle-aged lady 35 years ago that I think were responsible for my coming to the Lord. And it wasn't my mother, it was my girl friend's mother.

[[Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.]]
--Elijah
I don't see myself as tempting God, and in reference to that verse, would it not be accurate to state that you can't tempt God without DELIBERATELY intending to do so?
