Rebuilding the Temple – AntiChrist

[FONT=Palatino,Book Antiqua]
• Millennial sacrifices are mentioned as a " matter of fact" by the major prophets of the Old Testament as future occurrences. At least four other prophets join Ezekiel in affirming a sacrificial system in a millennial Temple (Isaiah 56:7; 66:20-23; Jeremiah 33:18; Zechariah 14:16-21; Malachi 3:3-4). This further supports the literal interpretation of Ezekiel. Why would five of Israel's prophets mention these sacrifices if they will not take place?

Christ's sacrificial death forever obviated animal sacrifice. While some tribes and religions - even today - continue the practice of animal sacrifice, such rites and rituals have no more power to remove sin or save fallen man than they did in the OT.

In other words, what some see as animal sacrifice today is nothing more than an afternoon of "chicken and shrimp on the barbie" to God. Tasty way to cook but with no atoning power whatsofreakingever.

The Jews may - at some point - reinstitute animal sacrifice, but it has been emptied of its meaning by Christ's perfect sacrifice. It would be nothing more than an empty and vain ritual.

Which is why Daniel 9:27 is not about a so-called end time anti-Christ but about Christ Himself:

Then he [Christ] shall confirm a covenant with many for one week; But in the middle of the week He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate, Even until the consummation, which is determined, Is poured out on the desolate." Daniel 9:27 (NKJV)

What's the covenant Christ confirmed?

6 "I am the Lord, I have called You in righteousness, I will also hold You by the hand and watch over You, And I will appoint You as a covenant to the people, As a light to the nations, 7 To open blind eyes, To bring out prisoners from the dungeon And those who dwell in darkness from the prison. 8 "I am the Lord, that is My name; I will not give My glory to another, Nor My praise to graven images. Isaiah 42:6-8 (NASB)

Here is that covenant confirmed in the middle of the 70th week:

27 And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He gave it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you; 28 for this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins. Matthew 26:27-28 (NASB)

Christ's sacrificial death in the middle of the week not only confirmed the covenant of our reconciliation to God, but also brought forever an end to the rites of animal sacrifice. As noted before, Christ's death emptied them of their meaning.

14 For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified. 15 And the Holy Spirit also testifies to us; for after saying, 16 "THIS IS THE COVENANT THAT I WILL MAKE WITH THEM AFTER THOSE DAYS, SAYS THE Lord: I WILL PUT MY LAWS UPON THEIR HEART, AND ON THEIR MIND I WILL WRITE THEM," He then says, 17 "AND THEIR SINS AND THEIR LAWLESS DEEDS I WILL REMEMBER NO MORE." 18 Now where there is forgiveness of these things, there is no longer any offering for sin. Hebrews 10:14-18 (NASB)

Note the last sentence:

Now where there is forgiveness of these things, there is no longer any offering for sin.

Christ's atoning work was finished once and for all on the cross, thereby putting an end to animal sacrifice.

Daniel 9:27 was fulfilled in the atoning work of Christ. It is not about some futuristic anti-Christ.

Hope this helps.

Amen. :yes And the last half of the seventieth week was brought to the full in that it was another 3 1/2 years from the Lord's crucifixion and resurrection to the stoning of Stephen. Seventy weeks brought to the full.

Although Christ sacrifice certainly made an end of sacrifices, yet the end of sacrifice described in Daniel has a historic example of what that place in scriptures means, a physical stopping of the sacrifice in a Jewish Temple(not Christ sacrifice on the cross).

One thing that needs to be studied is that in Daniel in every place where it says "daily sacrifice" the word sacrifice is an added word. If we remove the added word then we will have to discover before God what is meant by the removing of the "daily." And that is another picture altogether.
