Rejection

Hi I'm new to this forum and was hoping to get some advice on rejection. I am super kind and giving and trusting of and to others. Yet, I am constantly being rejected. Ppl will talk bad about me or treat me unkindly. What is a good prayer to not allow this to make me feel hurt, or alone, or anxious. Thank you ahead for your responses and help.

Hi Dear Sister Reigna, and welcome to our Christian fellowship. I know of such a prayer called the Serenity Prayer authored by Reinhold Niebuhr, an adherent to philosophy. Alcoholics Anonymous made it a part of their twelve point recovery program.

"God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I can,
And wisdom to know the difference."

I personally just go directly to our Father's throne of grace and ask for help in my time of need, and you'd be surprised how wonderful He is to answer. Hebrews 4:16. Change will occur whether it is in you or others; change will begin.

God bless you in your time with us in Jesus' name. :wave

"God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I can,
And wisdom to know the difference."

Reinhold Niebuhr, did some good work for the protestant Church.

2Co_9:8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:

Instead of praying, try believing.

All grace abounds toward me, I am loved by everyone and have the favor of everyone. God is for me, I will not fear what man can do to me. I am equipped for every good Work and God puts the right people in my path to accomplish all that God has called me to do. I have no fear of rejection or being hurt, for God is on my side and my strong arm. Those that wish to cause me pain, it's them God removes and sets my paths straight.

So when doubting someone will accept me, or give me an opportunity I remind myself that God is for me, and grace abounds towards me.

Mike.

Welcome to the forum!!

You know your value does not depend on what poeple think and talk about you? Neither their praise nor their abuse should tell you anything about your worth you have in yourself given to you by the eternal God.

There are various reasons for why a person my encounter permanent and apparently undeserved rejection, and since we don't know you it's hard to give advise on the internet. Could you tell us examples of the kind of rejection you encounter? And maybe there is a person you can trust who knows you in real life and who can help you figure out why your environment's response mismatches your expectation so much? Could you talk to a christian counsellor?

Welcome to the forum and Welcome to Christianity! We have someone well acquainted with rejection someone who understands someone that's been there and done that.

Isaiah 53:3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were [our] faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

Several years ago this lady asked me for advice on rejection, my advice to her is the same advice I'll give you "if you want it" Go to a place away from all of this interference, a prayer closet is a good one. Get on your knees and stay there until you find the peace your looking for, if after an hour nothing happens stay for another and don't come out until your satisfied with the answer you'll get.

Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all [ye] that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

I seem to recall a motivational speaker telling his class "Dont limit your self image to the standard others would like you to think or accept in order to satisfy their selfish needs or egos." or words to that effect.Keep your eyes upon Jesus , He was also rejected in cirtain circles regardless of all the good he did and still dose."The knowledge about the secrets of the Kingdom of heaven has been givern to you , but not to them."Mt 13:11 T.E..V.Bear in mind we all have our little quirks and traits that upset the harmony between believers, that is why we should work hard at stiving to allow God to improve us by filling us daily with the nine fruits of the Sprite ,as Paul explains in Gal 5:22 .Rejection can also occur amongst believers in church surroundings as well as the workplace if we become too "Better than Thou snobbish sort of way.Christ shows us that he was not exclusive when He drew the Samaritan Woman towards Himself in John 4: 9-15.
Therefore, we must allow others to follow Christ by the examples set by us.Personal rejection is secondary even water off a ducks back.
It is not about us personally ,but to the Glory of God.Rejection by the world in Christ's name ,is part of our persecution and sacrifice as I understand the Will of God.

I went to prison................. When renting, when looking for Jobs, when even to help in volunteer work it comes up, and meeting nice couples who's kids my kids could play with it comes up. You went to prison???

Am I going to clean out the cash drawer? Am I still selling drugs secretly? I recently was rejected from a job where I could help drug abusers because of my prison record despite the people I interviewed with really wanting me on board.

My ministry work in the Homeless shelters and in the Ghetto is just where I seem to do best. Rough, to the point and Mike don't play games or hear excues as to why you can't do something or obey God.

Ministry? Yes, but secular jobs? NO.. I might still have drug connections, might still be trying to recruit, you just never know so I did not get the chance. Mind you I only did like 21 months in the big house and committed this crime when I was not even saved. I have been out of prison since 2000, and 14 years later it still comes up. No drugs, no crimes, I walk the walk and live a saved life.

However.............. What I posted above is the same scripture I use. I never get down, never fret about it, and I have the victory. In other areas I have been super blessed, had supernatural favor, and all grace abounds toward me. My prison record has not stopped me or slowed me down a bit. Sure, there have been some hiccups but who cares, God has my back every single time.

When I talk with other men who claim they can't get a job or find a place to live (Most apartment complexes check credit history and prison records as well as Jobs these days.) I don't like to hear excuses about nobody liking you or giving you a chance. God is on your side, or not on your side, you pick.

I have meditated on those scriptures over and over........... wrote them down, kept them with me and they are more real to me than any natural circumstance.

Psa_31:20 Thou shalt hide them in the secret of thy presence from the pride of man: thou shalt keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.

Thou shalt keep me from the strife of tongues!!!! That is a fact, God has spoken.

Something I don't do, I don't talk bad about anyone, don't gossip, don't judge others. When you do that you spiritually sow that and it comes right back in abundance.

Ecc 7:21 Also take no heed unto all words that are spoken; lest thou hear thy servant curse thee:
Ecc 7:22 For oftentimes also thine own heart knoweth that thou thyself likewise hast cursed others.

We are commanded to do what? Take no heed unto all words spoken. I don't, don't care. However I don't curse others and don't sow that seed.

The world calls it Karma as they see the spiritual law in effect. It's really called seed time and harvest and spiritual law God has set in place. Don't break it, and you will be fine, break it and don't be shocked when things just come up from the blue.

I don't just glance at the word and say, "OH that's nice."
No, I take it serious as something God said and keep it before me. I have meditated on the Word that when things come up, I speak the Word only.

Victory is ours.

Mike.

Thanks for that testimony Mike. Its really from the heart as I see and hear it.This extract from your experience and how God is using you now reminds me of these verses by Russell Kelfer which could well comfort others who also feel the pains of rejection and suffering for whatever reason "No, that trauma you faced was not easy.
And God wept that it hurt you so;
But it was allowed to shape your heart
So that into his likeness you'd grow.

You are who you are for a reason,
You've been formed by the Master's rod.
You are who you are, beloved,
Because there is God!"

Glad to meet you Tony :)

We all go through rejections, trails, problems. Most of them are caused by us. In fact I can only think of two that were not my fault. Any rejection from a ex-con would be my fault, nobody told me to break the law and go to prison. However, God is great at taking our mess ups, mistakes, and showing amazing grace and ability in our lives despite our short comings. If we all had it down perfect then we would not even need Jesus, the Word or the Holy Spirit.

Blessings.

I greatly appreciate you sharing your experiences w rejection and your testimony. Thank you for this.

There's actually quite a few scriptures which speak on these things. It is to be expected to be rejected and persecuted once one begins to walk with the Lord. Actually, it seems as if the closer that you are with God, the more it comes.

2 Timothy 3:12, 1 John 3:13, Philippians 1:29, Matthew 5:10-12, James 5:10-11, John 15:18-19, 2 Timothy 2:3, 1 Peter 4:12-14, James 1:2-3, Romans 5:3-4, 1 Peter 4:1-2, 2 Timothy 4:5, John 16:33, Matthew 10:28, Proverbs 29:25, 1 Peter 3:14 & 16-17, 1 Peter 5:8-10, 1 Corinthians 4:12-13, 2 Corinthians 4:8-9, Hebrews 12:3-4, 1 Peter 4:19, 1 Peter 2:19, 2 Timothy 2:12, 2 Corinthians 4:16-18, Romans 8:16-18, 2 Peter 1:5-11, Psalm 31:24

“It doesn’t cost you much to follow Jesus-just everything!†Quote from Keith Green, Christian Musician and Singer“Most of us weren’t faced with anything as obvious as the choice between bowing to a false god or being killed. But we are continually tempted to bow to other false gods-to go with the crowd, be ashamed of our convictions, stay silent instead of speaking out for what is right. So we compromise. We harbor secret sins. We bow to invisible idols of wanting to be accepted, of fear, pride, lust, and greed.†Quote from Melody Green, Keith Green’s Wife.

Thank you so much for these scriptures. It was a great reminder that the closer we walk w God, the more rejection we will face. Many blessings to you
