No co-incidence that this comes out on International Women's Day of Prayer

Let's stand upon the many, precious promises of God today, OK?

"We fight not against flesh & blood but against principalities & powers & spiritual wickedness in the heavenly realms"

"We are seated in the heavenly realms with Christ"

So we can look down on the many & intense problems from God's perspective & viewpoint

"Whatsoever you ask in My name, believe that you receive it & you shall have it" said Jesus

A great, practical way to do that is to visualise the result that you are praying for: that increases both your faith & your determination

That's how karate men break boards/rocks etc - don't aim at the surface of the situation facing you &/or your loved ones - strike right thru, by faith, as if all obstacles had simply vanished already, in Jesus' mighty name!

"Without vision, the people perish"

But..

"we are more than conquerors in Christ"

He also said, "If 2 of you agree (in prayer) concerning anything, I will do it"

Do uphold the highly strategic miracle crusade in Seoul Korea over the next 3 days & catch the 1st night at 7pm on http://www.TBN.tv & http://www.BennyHinn.org

He'll be in the even more strategic Indonesia 27/29 April - (my mum's centenary!)

"You were born for such a time as this!"

Do search verses quoted @ http://www.BibleGateway.org

& add any God gives you to share with other prayer warriors at this time

God bless all spiritual prayer warriors for salvation, healing & deliverance!

I'm curious as to their sample set. I'm a pretty avid cartoon fan, and I have a hard time finding things like Teen Titans and Dragon Ball Z any worse than GI Joe, Transformers, and Voltron of 20 years ago.

I don't know about the others you mention, but dragon ball-z used to be one of my daughters favorite shows ,that is until she started being very moody, easy to anger when she was playing outside, and getting a nasty attitude in general. I could'nt figure out why at first, but I happened to see a few episodes with her one day and the rage and anger that is a big part of the show, really concerned me. I decided that I was going to tell her she could'nt watch it anymore and I talked with her about my reasons ,[of course in typical 11 yr.old fashion she expressed her disagreement, lol, and stormed off to her room]. But by the 2nd week of not watching ,you could see the difference, she was back to herself again . I don't mean to imply that these types of shows turn kids into rageful lunatics,I just think that for a child who may be at an age where they are still growing emotionally, and learning how to deal with their feelings, and how to relate to others, that shows like these do more harm than good. My daughter ,now is almost 14,and a HUGE anime/manga, fan she aspires to make a career of it one day{another medium that CAN BE destructive] so I'm diligent in watching what she's writing, and encourage her to try and put positive messages in her stories. It' not easy ,there are so many negative influences to guard against.

I'm from a longstanding, high-ranking military family - officers in all the Armed Forces for generations

It is well known, just from features in Christian mags & TV, etc, that the forces use PC/video games to desensitise & train killers

Here's yahoo search result:-

Signs of the Times - 2005-07-01
Signs of the Times - International Alternative News Resource ... serving bravely in the Armed Forces, another special celebration ... think that the game could actually desensitise young men ... manipulated by the recruiter: video games and pizza ...

Don't ask me for relatives' names, posts, locations or activities - 'not at liberty to divulge' per UK Official Secrets Act

I think this Sun 6.30 Southport joint youth multi-media, at new Shoreline church, near the station & @ opp Asda - is on a related theme?

Must go!

God bless!

My kids like watching Pinky and The Brain. Now, one is a genius, and the other's insane.

A given form of media can only desensitize a person to that same media. If you play violent video games, the imagery in such games will have less effect on you, but real-life violence in the news won't, necessarily. If you watch violent movies, violent movies will affect you less, but seeing violence in real life won't. And so on.

It's true that the military does, at times, use "games" as training programs to teach tactics and such, but it's hardly as glamorous as you might think. You can't play Doom 3 and suddenly learn to be an effective soldier. The skill sets are completely different. I'm sure the military has tried, but it tries all manner of things that wind up being completely worthless.

I just have @ 11/12 entries there so far, but I'm sure another season of songwriting is starting to bubble up in me: I asked soon-retiring Elim Pentecostal NW Regional Superintendent, ace keyboardist Dave Woodfield, to pray for me & impart extra songwriting anointing thru the Biblical laying on of hands, when he preached so superbly at Bootle Christian Centre, North Park Corner roundabout last Sunday

We are just at the stage of really needing to take over the soon-redundant 200-seater Goddard Hall next door as well, so that the corner unit can be purely for the youth & kids departments of the fast-growing work here

The Bootle CAB, next door the other side, was the 1st CAB in UK

Sefton Borough has a fairly unique breadth of variety & has run many a UK pilot programme, in many areas of life

But I digress...

Just tired I guess..

don't get depressed.

just get to that song fest!!

Today's Scripture

Thanks be to God!

Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people.

They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.

Matthew 14:19,20 NIV

Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.

Romans 1:20-22 KJV

Weekly Meditation

Life through Christ

Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him.

For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.

And not only this, but we also exult in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.

Romans 5:9-11 NASB

mARTIAL ARTS TRAINING IS ON THE PRINCIPLE OF CONDITIONED REFLEX: YOU DO THE MOVES SO MANY TIMES THAT RESPONSES BECOME AUTOMATIC, THUS BY-PASSING THE NEED TO THINK, AS YOU HAVE NO TIME TO (WHEN SUDDENLY ATTACKED IN AMBUSHES, ETC)

tO ACHIEVE THIS IN THE MILITARY CONTEXT - ESP RAF, ETC - YOU USE A MULTIMEDIA APPROACH

vIDEO GAMES ARE A KEY PART OF IT

Sorry for accidental caps lock - no time to correct - ain't shoutin' @ ya, dude

Thanks for the creative writing link, MrVersatile. I actually have done a bit of creative writing. I'll see if I can find anything of mine to post.

This is true, but they have to actually be the same actions. Martial arts training involves people attacking you, so that you reflexively thwart those attacks. Real military training involves targets popping up so you can really shoot them with a real gun.

If someone spends a lot of time using a mouse and keyboard to pretend that he's shooting people, this isn't going to condition him to reflexively kill, because playing a video game uses a completely different set of skills and muscle sets than shooting a real gun. If I play Half Life 2 for a thousand hours, it's not going to instill any kind of reflexive killing instinct, unless I kill people by clicking a mouse. It's simply not the same thing. At all.
