We can say we don't care what others think of us. But have we really been tested?
Say I had a criminal conviction for theft. Would I like everyone to know that? Prospective employers?
Yes I know we should only care what God thinks of us. Are we really tough enough to stick to that?
I sometimes wonder what my extended family would do or say if I ended up in jail. I hardly see my siblings and family these days. Depends on the charge. Stealing is not the worst. How about homicide? Sexual abuse? Yes these crimes are horrific but how would you feel if you were either guilty or wrongly accused?
These intrusive thoughts come to haunt me. Sorry if it is annoying to read.

a place i dont have to be, however i get the point. we identify with a so and so politically and our jobs and family and not where it ought to be the LORD

God has taught me to care about myself as who I am in the Lord that is pleasing to Him. No one knows my heart, but God. I really do not care what others might think of me. If they are pointing fingers to find fault, what they do not realize is that three of their fingers are pointing back at their own self within their own faults.

As far as having to put a criminal conviction on a job application that is to remain between you and the employer in the strictness of confidentiality. It should never hinder anyone from receiving employment when they have already paid their debt to society and need to be given a second chance. My husband well knows as he has a misdemeanor felony that really adds up to a small crime of hardly any significance, but yet served 7 months in jail until his trial came up. He only got probation upon his release, but while he was in jail, he also found Christ. This was before we got married and he told me all about it and I explained this to my family and they eventually accepted him.

cant own a gun with a felony in some states or for a time after time served, cant work i work as we go inside school yards and in some jobs you must have clean record.

cant teach sunday school or be around kids in those classes in my state with a past like that.

How about a convicted pedophile applying for a kids camp director? If someone gave them that second chance and it went south, who do you think society would blame - the pedophile or the employer?

Wip
Of course you are right.
But this raises another point. Should we as Christians, have a forgiving attitude towards pedophiles?

Forgive them but don't let them anywhere near your kids?

I know here in PA that anyone with a felony can not own a gun. Certain types of jobs do need their employees to have a clean record as it depends on what kind of job it is that you would need clearance. My husband has a felony charge, but because of the type of one he has he could teach Sunday School as even he and I use to go into prisons teaching the word of God to the inmates.

I would say anyone that would hire a pedophile to work around children is only asking for trouble as the temptation would probably be to great for them, but yet there are other jobs they could get. I still stand on giving anyone a second chance, no matter the crime if they are released from jail.

Where would my husband and I be right now if someone did not give him a second chance when he got out of jail. That felony charge stays with you for life unless you can afford to have it removed from your record and not everyone can afford to do so.

Trying to do the right thing usually enhances our reputation without us even trying.
