With Jesus in the room? I'd fear nothing.I thought of that after posting, lol. We are in Christ, Christ is in us...literally. We are not alone and have never been alone. So would you sit down and play a game with Jesus in the room? That's just a wee bit scary...
The ulcer twins, he he he.
Well that's fine, I haven't signed up to anything yet.
rp, We consider this about those things. Would we be ashamed if Christ appeared at what ever we are doing. This is the way a "born again believer" walks in this age. Not everyone who says they are a Christian are not always what they say they are.
No, I was just playing the games over on my mobile.OK...
Since I'm the resident obstinate person...
There are no hard and fast rules for Christians except the obvious ones.
Like "no lying, no stealing and etc"
Your video game is just one of many activities that normal and irrational teenagers and young guys play. (My own son being an irrational young man just like you)
The Jews had a very Legalistic form of worship...They even had to measure the water they used for ceremonial hand washing rituals.
The Gentiles joining this sect of Judaism known today as Christianity regularly ate bacon and pork chops (Jews wouldn't ever touch pork) and seen absolutely nothing wrong with this staple of their diet.
Jesus created a New Covenant with mankind with his death and resurrection. Sealed with his own blood...
And video games aren't specifically listed in this New Covenant.
But Paul was asked about all these practices that Jews tried to get the Gentiles to follow and had one answer.
Everything is permissible but not everything is beneficial.
What this means to you in today's world... (Yes, I'm finally getting around to the point)
Why are you asking about this game?
Is involvement with this game causing you pause for particular reasons? I've seen the fantasy/sci-fi movies. (I like them)
But I've also seen things that seem like "good activities" actually be subjugating to the identities of people. They get so wrapped up in their careers and hobbies that God gets put on a back burner.
Your relationship with God is like a parachute in a plane that's going to crash. Putting this "parachute" on a side seat while you finish this level on the game...Kinda dumb eh? But people do it all the time.
But then again putting the game in your pocket while hugging your parachute ain't a bad idea either.

I love Jesus in my own way.Doug said: rp, We consider this about those things. Would we be ashamed if Christ appeared at what ever we are doing. This is the way a "born again believer" walks in this age. Not everyone who says they are a Christian are not always what they say they are.

Doug said: Hi rpguy, We don't sign up. we are called. We are called by the word of God. You either are drawn to Christ by the word of God or the word of God has no light upon your soul and no influence. Those who are called by the WORD repent, then God regenerates that soul with the Spirit of Christ. To the unbeliever it is of no value, but to the believer, it is a life changing rebirth of a new man.
IMHO, I would steer clear of such video games. I spent hours and hours playing COD a few years back. In fact, maybe even all video games (difficult when you're growing up I know). How do they benefit your walk with God? They don't and walking around with a video game character shooting people/monsters is hardly an activity that allows you to grow in the knowledge of God.
Be careful, the devil will love to keep you entertained with other things as opposed to living for God. not saying it's easy to just drop the video games and move on, but I would suggest that is the path to take brother.
1 John 2:15
Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
times has definitely changed and not for the best ..i have a hard time understanding all these shootings.. no doubt satanic influence. i really feel it is a copy cat thing.. even church is not the same as it was say 25 years ago or more. churches use to host true Revivals. if you was a preacher you always had a place to preach Churches could lay aside denom differences .. today you seldom hear true preaching its more teaching with Big bands .perilous timesMaybe we women think differently about all this since we're the ones that get to raise the kids.
1. Everything one is exposed to will have an affect and an effect on his life.
2. If a kid can't do it, why should an adult be able to?
3. Children have changed a great deal in the past one or two generations because of these games. Grand Theft Auto has caused persons to knock people over in real life. They just walk up to them and hit them hard on the head. This is also happening in Europe.
4. Would you play this game if Jesus were around? I doubt it.
5. Some things are more tolerable than others. These games are not tolerable because they change people. They are evil and glorify satan.
6. I think Jesus spoke to this stuff in Mathew 5:29...
Something about plucking out your right eye if it makes you stumble.
I'm sorry, I feel very strongly about these games. The world was a better place when they didn't exist. Fortunes are made by ruining our children. I wish they had never been invented.
BTW, maybe if all things are permissible but not all are profitable
1 Corinthians 20:23...
Maybe I could indulge in some adultery??
Yeah. That's the ticket.

I've not played Resident Evil but I've been computer wargaming with other assorted games for 35 years, it's great fun!
When people say "But weapons are evil" I remind them that some of Jesus's followers carried swords..
"Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, cutting off his right ear" (John 18:10)
"When Jesus’ followers saw what was going to happen, they said, "Lord, should we strike with our swords?" And one of them struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his right ear. But Jesus answered, "No more of this!" And he touched the man’s ear and healed him." (Luke 22:49-51)
The fact remains that Jesus allowed them to carry them in the first place (possibly as a deterrence to muggers on their travels) so obviously he never thought weapons were evil..
What, my conclusion that weapons are not evil in themselves? That is an interesting submission Poor Old Spike, although I'd be careful with drawing that conclusion.
