This is a good question; the answer lies within the passage you quoted. We have to submit and draw near to God. And how do we do this?
One on the best things I have learned is by recognizing and acknowledging my sins and repenting of them - knowing where I am weak in the flesh and where I am able to give into temptation - then asking God to help me with that struggle over sin.
Finally what I have found that works for me, is to be daily taking up my Cross and walking in obedience with God's Word. This is by taking Ephesians 6:10-13 and applying it to my life.
And as you have also said - Reading Scriptures and Praising God through the temptation is great and should also be done. I like to recite - "Greater is He who is in me, then he that is in the world" 1 John 4:4
When we stay in prayer with God and fill our minds with His Word, His presence, His Praise - it will be harder for the devil to get a stranglehold and conquer us in that hour!

Prayer and fasting is definitely needed to stay away from the temptations of the devil.
Reading daily is clear way to know when the devil is using a false prophet or a confused believer to confuse us.
Also, when we rebuke the devil in someone, may we send it to a place to not come back to us; as we must realize that when we are used to rebuke a demon, that demon comes for us. Don't get paranoid, just send it to a place and pray and cover yourself with the blood of JESUS ( in prayer).

Really depends on what you think the Devil is doing. We often need the Holy Spirit to help us out here. There is no pat answers.
Paul doing the will of God hindered from going a certain place by Satan. Solution was that Paul eventually did go.
Crazy women with a divining spirit follows Paul around for three days. Solution was to wait on the direction of the Holy Spirit and cast that thing out of her.
Devil sends messenger and just knocks the slats right out from underneath Paul as He was trying to get the Word out. Solution from Jesus, don't go into places without factoring in the Anointing of the Holy Spirit. Your own Knowledge is and strength Paul is just going to get you clobbered.
Devil is attacking with sickness. Solution, Get the wisdom of God for your healing. By His stripes we are Healed, but I don't dictate to God how that is going to be. Rebuke the devil and stand? Get to doctor? change diet? God knows.
Person spreading lies in the church about the Lord Jesus or gets into sin. Solution, with direction of the Head of the Church, send the Devil after them. Paul did this 3 times, and the devil has to listen to you.
Shoes moving across the room, name called at night before you fall asleep, covers pulled off your bed. Ignore the devil, seriously just rebuking him shows He has got you in fear and It's not big deal.
Fear about something in the future. A loved one not home when they should be, a bill is coming due, whatever. Solution, we are not to have any fear, speak the Word only and cast down those thoughts, if the fear is persistent then praise God for his faithfulness and keep speaking. You can't fight thoughts with thoughts, but you can't form thoughts if your speaking the Word and praising God. Who gives up, wins. Remember, fear is faith for something that has yet to happen, we don't want to have faith in fear of future events. The devil is a liar anyway.
You are continually overcome to commit some sin. your in a sin and repent cycle. Solution, You need more light on this, so get in the Word and take a active stance against sin. Also staying filled with the Holy Spirit, stirring up the gifts in you will insure you will not walk after the flesh. A weak spirit that needs fed the Word is one that will not have dominance over flesh.
Someone is possessed by a devil. This don't come up often, but I have run into it. Get direction from the Holy Spirit. A person who does not want delivered can't be. Never get into a conversation with a Devil unless directed by the Holy Spirit. There is nothing a devil can say that should interest you and remember there is no truth in them.
Fight is about to break out, House is in strife, Someone robs the gas station your at. The Name of Jesus is the name above all names, and if spoken in faith, having faith in that name it will diffuse any situation. Who will call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
The devil hindering something you need. A Job, a promotion, anything. Whatever we bind on earth is bound in Heaven.
Remember, Fear, strife, bitterness, feeling sorry for yourself, guilt, walking out of love are all connection to demonic power in your life. Have nothing to do with these things.

I mediate on all the wonderful thing God has done for me and the wonderful people He has given me, none of which I deserved. All the times He protected me when I was in danger, etc.
When I do this I remember that God loves me and only wants the best for me. So if He says something is sinful then He is saying that because it is harmful to me and possibly others, not to mention a poor witness for Him and His saving grace.
As a loving Father He gives us guidelines to protect us, mostly from ourselves.
Reflecting on that makes my heart want to please Him, love Him in return for loving me and forgiving me of my faults.
