(CNN) -- Oscar-winning actor and comedian Robin Williams apparently took his own life at his Northern California home Monday, law enforcement officials said. Williams was 63. "He has been battling severe depression of late," his media representative Mara Buxbaum told CNN. "This is a tragic and sudden loss. The family respectfully asks for their privacy as they grieve during this very difficult time." Coroner investigators suspect "the death to be a suicide due to asphyxia," according to a statement from the Marin County, California, Sheriff's office.


I didn't much like Williams' style of humor, but he'll be missed by millions. 63 is much too young to die, and suicide is always a tragedy.

I pray for his soul, and I pray for his family.

ok, the uso was something he was a part of. im surprised he didn't reach to us vets with this struggle.

Alot of his friends were shocked about his suicide.

I really enjoyed many of his movies. Mrs. Doubtfire, Dead Poets Society, Hook, The Fisher King, Goodwill Hunting, so many.

I knew that he has always had mental problems, and it had got to be to much for him in the end.

I understand he was not a Christian but his soul is in the hands of Jesus right now.

Whatever else I think about Williams as a person, among his many good points was that he genuinely supported our servicemen. That goes a long way with me.
