Roman Catholic Catechism Questions

Jesus writes seven letters to the seven churches in Asia, but Rome is not one of them. I wonder what this is all about? Also, those believers that gather and meet in an assembly are called ekklesia, and many times this word is plural, indicating that there is no such thing as THE CHURCH. The scriptures do speak of the body of Christ which is made up of all believers where each one is given a gift or gifts of the Spirit as the Spirit of God decides who receives which gift.

John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne; Revelation 1:4

I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. Revelation 22:16

When Paul writes to the believers in Rome he speaks of multiple churches, not just the Church of Rome that rules over all other churches.

Who have for my life laid down their own necks: unto whom not only I give thanks, but also all the churches of the Gentiles. 5 Likewise greet the church that is in their house. Salute my wellbeloved Epaenetus, who is the firstfruits of Achaia unto Christ. Romans 16:4-5

Salute one another with an holy kiss. The churches of Christ salute you. Romans 16:16

Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours: 1 Corinthians 1:2

But as God hath distributed to every man, as the Lord hath called every one, so let him walk. And so ordain I in all churches. 1 Corinthians 7:17

Jesus wrote? Where does it say that?

Secondly, Jesus is chastizing churches in Turkey, which are under John's jurisdiction. He says nothing about churches outside of Turkey because JOHN is writing the letter. JOHN received the vision.

And did you ever think that Jesus was satisfied with Rome? Paul seems to think so...

"To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called [to be] saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ. First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world." Romans 1:7-8

"For your obedience is come abroad unto all [men]. I am glad therefore on your behalf: but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil." Romans 16:19

Does Paul give a better account of any other church than in Rome? Does he speak in such a way about any other place???

And many times, it is a singular word. The various communities were loosely tied together into one Body. Christ is ONE Body, and His Church is One Body. It depends on the writer's context whether he uses singular or plural tense nouns.

Paul is writing about house churches, various communities spread throughout Rome. This is the same thing as talking about various Catholic parishes in one city....

So the Churches in Asia were all separate from the church at Rome as they were being exhorted to repent from different sins. They obviously were not under the control of ONE SUPREME CHURCH AUTHORITY other than Jesus Christ himself. Jesus does not mention the "ONE TRUE CHURCH OF ROME" in his letters to the Churches, so I suspect that that type of reference or title is not truth.

Solo,

Jesus didn't write any letters that are now extant.

And even using your logic of Jesus writing the Book of Revelation - this means that there are no other churches but in Turkey? So the churches in Antioch, Jerusalem, Corith, Rome, and so forth, are no longer during "Jesus" writing Revelation?

Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence...

If you read the scriptures you would realize that Jesus said, "Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; (Revelation 2:1)

And Jesus said, "And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; (Revelation 2:8)

And Jesus said, "And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; (Revelation 2:12)

And Jesus said, "And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; (Revelation 2:18)

And Jesus said, "And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; (Revelation 3:1)

And Jesus said, "And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; (Revelation 3:7)

And Jesus said, 14 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans F1 write; Revelation 3:14)

That which Jesus dictated what is to be written is quoted by him.

The point is that Jesus is writing to the Churches for areas that all churches can advice from. Jesus tells those believers at these churches to keep doing that which is right, and to repent from that which is wrong. The church at Rome was not written to as the supreme head over all churches, therefore the Roman Catholic Church is usurping the Head of the body of Christ.

To the church at Ephesus Jesus writes (dictates for those that are comprehension handicaped) that he knows that they cannot bear them that are evil, those that say they are "Apostles" but are not, and have for Jesus' name labored and not fainted. He also reveals that they hate the deeds of the Nicolaitans which he hates also. The way of the Nicolaitans is described by Jay Atkinson in his article, Nicolaitans where he states:
  • The doctrine of the Nicolaitans was mentioned in the Apocalypse of John to the churches of Pergamos and Ephesus of the seven churches of Asia in Revelation 2. It is a symbolic name of a party that represents the hierarchy of a ruling class over the rest of the people, developing a pecking order of fleshly leadership.

Jesus says that the believers of the church at Ephesus need to return to their first love and repent.

To the church at Smyrna Jesus writes (dictates for those that are comprehension handicaped) that he knows that their works, tribulation, and poverty; and he knows the blasphemy of those that say they are Jews but are rather the synagog of satan.

To the church at Pergamos Jesus writes (dictates for those that are comprehension handicaped) that he knows that the believers at Pergamos have held fast to Jesus name and that they have not denied the faith, yet there are some among those believers that hold to the doctrine of Balaam in idol worship, and those that are in the mode of the Nicolaitans that put the laity under the rule of the heirchy.

To the church at Thyatira Jesus writes (dictates for those that are comprehension handicaped) that he knows the believers at Thyatira works, love, service, faith, and patience; but there are those that permit the false teachings of Jezebel to do fornication and to worship idols.

To the church at Sardis Jesus writes (dictates for those that are comprehension handicaped) that he knows the some of those in the church at Sardis have a name that they live, but are instead dead; they believe they are born again but are not. The few believers at Sardis have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with Jesus in white: for they are worthy and have overcome.

To the church at Philidelphia Jesus writes (dictates for those that are comprehension handicaped) that they have kept his word, and has not denied His name. They will be kept from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

Very well. I see your point.

The Head of the Body is Jesus Christ. The Catholic Church teaches that and does not usurp that position. Peter is merely the visible point of unity of the Church based on his office given to him by Jesus. The giving of the keys confered upon him a position of authority, similar to a Prime Minister. When the Master returns, the servant will have to give an account of himself - and this applies in a special way to the office of the Pope.

You know, once was enough - but you repeat this 7 times... Yes, I am a simpleton. It is not often I speak with someone so intelligent and wise...

1 Cor 8:1... Read and heed, brother.
