If Romans 8:28 applies "to them that love God," how does this apply to those abused children who haven't yet accepted Jesus as their Savior?

If a abused/molested is born again, are they to believe it was all for their good?

I know from reading the Bible, God's sovereignty is a complex. I'm just trying to make better sense as it applies to this question.

Romans 8:18 says no matter how bad things have been God will turn everything around and make things good

iow He will turn our mourning into joy - Jeremiah 31:13 - Psalms 30:11-12

I was abused as a child for a period spanning a few months.
I think bad things happen because we live in a fallen world. In a sense, some good came out of my abuse.....in that I can speak up for people like me and help educate people. But to say that God planned for me to be abused....I don't believe He planned it so much as He lets humans use their free will to make bad choices.
But I do think that some good can come out of anything.....that doesn't mean it should have happened, or that it was justified.

That's a really good question. He says "God works for the good of those who love him"
I think God is working for our good in the after life. The predestination he speaks of in the following verses are of the after life I think

As for the abused child that grows up to be a Christian I think they should take a good look around at the pain and suffering that other people have endured as well. People go through all kinds of hardship; illness, death, disability.

I think you are essentially asking about pain and suffering

The question of pain and suffering was the biggest hurdle for me coming back to God
How could a God allow so much death, pain and suffering in this world? Why is a child born quadriplegic, blind or with some other debilitating condition?

I thought that maybe all this was the work of the evil one. But there is a passage in the Gospel where Jesus is asked why a man was born blind, if it was cos of his parents sin. His answer is probably the most unsatisfying thing that Jesus says I think. He basically says that this man is blind so that God's glory can be revealed

So to the question of why there is pain and suffering, I just don't know. The RCC doesn't have a conclusive answer and I don't think anyone else does either.

However my knowledge isn't the greatest so perhaps someone can shine more light on this question of pain and suffering

Yeah...
Christ the King had the exact right answer scripture... even if he doesn't understand the answer.
The abuse you suffered wasn't your fault.
(But I'm sure that you already knew that part)

But it goes towards something else.
Where your stepfather treated you like you really didn't matter... rejected you... through his actions said that you weren't worth anything...God is saying something different. He is saying that you are valuable to Him....He finds worth in you. He loves you above the rest.
Life on Earth is temporary...life in heaven is eternal. One day your stepfather is going to stand before God to answer for his crimes. You will be there waiting and ready to testify. Purgery isn't a thing in heaven...no one can lie. The look on his face and the pain in his heart at that moment will be extreme to say the least.

"Away from me you doers of iniquity" might be said for a him. Then it will really suck to be him. It will rock to be you. Another situation where the least becoming great and those who thought themselves great become forgotten... permanently.

I know that I don't have all the answers. God does.

Ephesians 2:1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins: 2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: 3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

Quickened in scripture means revive or make alive. Now, put this together with Romans 8:25 we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Life is not always fair as we live in a fallen world as many walk according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience. Abuse against a child or an adult can be revived as the person is made Spiritually alive again for God's purpose to show God's power in our life.

Those like me and many that have gone through abuse can now flip it to good as we know what it's like and can help others that are dealing with abuse. One can not truly understand unless they have been through it themselves.

We as a child of God become the victims voice to the world that we can rise above that which tore us down as God gives us the victory over our enemies in which we also need to pray for.

I went through a season where I was trying hard to understand these things and I prayed hard about it. ...and, He answered me and told me a lot. He taught me that, it is fair and mankinds sufferings are equally measured out to us. And those who live tragic lives or tragically short lives are balanced out somehow in other things which happen or in rewards in heaven later on. He said that we will be able to understand all of it then,to the extent that we would be able to praise God that it happened the way that it did! I don't get it right now but I have to believe Him.

You said, " One can not truly understand unless they have been through it themselves..." and this is exactly correct and what the Lord taught me. That some things can not be known or learned except that there be suffering involved.

I can kind of relate to that but prolly don't get it all. But He said that man can not comprehend just how good it will be for us in heaven and what all He has in store for us...So I believe this.

These are good questions. Me and the Lord had a conversation about these things and I know it was the Lord cuz I can't come up with what He said! He set this earth up under some divine rules which He will not violate. If an abused child who has not accepted Jesus as their savior yet then it would and could apply to them because Jesus knew them before they were in their mothers womb and the Lords words will not come back to Him void! Some seed that got planted in their mind somehow, will get watered by the Holy Spirit.

A bigger but related problem for the Lord's kingdom is...People who have a broken spirit and are unable to cry out to God for help. Easy to imagine...refugees who live in the war torn regions of earth. There is a (many) nice lady who live there but one day ISIS or whoever came through and murdered her entire family right in front of her eyes...and then gang raped her and burnt down what was her house...So now they wander up the road. Refugees, a broken spirit that has seen and felt so much misery that she could not call upon God if she wanted to.

I can not say that I can understand that honestly because I have never had to endure such tragedy or hardship. So I was taught that one can do intercessory prayer for them. For God to take a portion of that person's suffering and grief from them and to put it upon me for a day or two. And He said He will do this. I wind up having a crappy day where I don't feel good, but, a portion of grief is lifted off of the refugee and so makes it possible for them to have a good enough day (in spirit) to be receptive and look to the Lord for help. They only have to ask once and God will be on it, and save that soul!

There is divine rules set up about how this earth and man operates and so forth. Like you have not because you ask not, right? We have to ask for everything almost. And no matter what, the Lord wont break any of his own rules.

So I can't pretend to have all the answers and I myself don't get it yet all either. I still see through a glass darkly. But He was clear with me and told me, don't just pray for your family, or your friends or Brothers and Sisters...Pray for those refugees whom I know not. Pray for The President, pray for Obama and Hillary?! This is what I got out of that teaching. Took awhile, lol.

I'm not sure what yardstick is used to make it fair enough for the HS to descend on someone who has not called out to Him, But the Lord does do it very fair and righteously and holy. All this sort've scares me because I look around me my entire life and see so much misery, grief, and wrongness done to people...and apparently I have missed out on a lot of misery that others have gone through and I have not! So what is still before me in MY future?!

I believe in divine justice. Seeking vengeance only hurts us. Give all your resentment and anger to God.
Im humble enough to accept that I will never understand everything.

The best I can comprehend right now is that maybe any abuse or suffering that we endure while here would probably make that person uniquely qualified for what their job will be in heaven...They say experience is the best teacher and so having had to endure, (whatever) would bring a certain amount of wisdom with it... something like that? except wisdom super naturally enhanced by God of course.

Romans 8:18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. 19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. 20 For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope, 21 Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

The world is an unfair place and yes you are right that it is fair as we will suffer and our hope is that of being delivered from the bondage of corruption that runs rampant in the hearts of others. This earth is only our temporary home that we travel through as our eternal home will be with the Father in which we all look forward to that day.

None of us will ever understand everything as all are in parts here on earth, but we keep seeking and finding as the Holy Spirit guides our path and reveals the mysteries of God.

Rev 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. 2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. 4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. 5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. 6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. 7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

Come quickly Lord Jesus and do not tarry as for me and my house we will serve the Lord.

Thank you everyone for responding. :)

I'm not sure I posted it, but I too was abused, from age 5 to age 14, by my stepfather. I understand, for those who were also abused, that discussing the issue may not be an easy one.

Again, thank you.
