Rude People

In our everyday life I think all of us have to deal with some very rude people . How do you deal with someone who is rude or gets in your face and still keep yourself from saying or doing something that you know is not Christ like. ?

Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God.

Greyfeather, I've got to admit that right now I can't think of anyone in my personal life who is downright rude...People are usually pretty nice to me (at least to my face  )

But when I look at forums..... :o

What bothers me is the ones who think they've cornered the market on 'love' are the very ones who are the rudest to those they disagree with.
:o

 I knew what you meant.

At work, I swallow my pride and usually turn the other cheek. On the train, I usually get up and change seats or put on the headphones.

If you are a telemarketer and you keep calling me at work, I will hang up on you. 8-)

We get some rude ones occassionally where I work. I have to bite my tongue and pray for patience. It's hard dealing with rude people sometimes, but with God's help, I manage to make it. I tell 'em to have a good day and thank them for their business, and I try to do it with a smile on my face. That's the hardest part.

I also try to bear in mind that the person may be being rude because they've had a trying day or are going through a rough time in their life. Not that they should be taking their frustrations out on me, but that doesn't give me the right to be rude back. In fact, it gives me more of a reason to be kind and polite. I never know how much I may help a person by simply showing them a bit of kindness. God made me understand that. Personally, I never would have thought that I could minister while working at a gas station, but it seems as if I can - even in a small way. :D

I got the idea for this topic from my sister and how she handles rude people its quite unique. We went to a local Wal-Mart this past summer , and as we were passing this truck we heard the yipping of a dog. As it was hot out we stoped to look at the truck. here was this small dog and there was no water put down for it and the window on the passengers side was cracked not even an inch. The dogs tounge was lolling out out its mouth and he was panting. It was obivious that he was to overheated. So we went into Wal-Mart and ask them to anounce over the intercome the trucks appearence and the dogs and ask the owner to come out to the truck. Well we went back out and waited for over fifteen minutes and finaly this young guy walked out and to the truck. Right away he started to jump on us for being near his truck , for haveing the anouncement made in the store and said he had a mind to call the police. My sister said whatever you think is right to do , we were very worried about the dog and thought you may have forgotten to put all the windows down a little bit more as hot as it is. At this point the man called my sister some very off color names . She just smiled sweetly at him and said well son you have a good day and may God bless you. The look on his face was priceless and he lost all power to speak as his mouth was hanging open. Anyway I thought I wonder how other people handel rude people so I decided to make a topic and find out.

Vic,
You don't have to say another word about telemarketers they seem to know just when you sit down to eat. LOL , I hate being rude to them I know its a job to them , but I had to start hanging up too, enough gets to be enough after awhile.

cly,
I know dealing with the public can have you bitting your tounge, sometimes you just have to grin and bear it . I have worked with the public and there were days when it seemed 5 out of every 10 people got out of the wrong side of the bed , but I looked at it this way it could have been worse all 10 could have gotten out on the wrong side

If it is someone I'm around often I will definitely inform them how I expect to be treated. If it is some random person I will most likely chalk it up to someone having a bad day and let it slide. I guess it usually depends on my mood too. There is nothing wrong with being forthright with others especially when done with tact.
