“Do not think that you will easily exploit my frailty, turning me to wickedness and impiety by your enticements. Although I am a woman by nature, by heart is more manly than yours, and the power of my faith is greater than any power you possess."

- Virgin-martyr Euphemia, † 16 September 303

Rejoice eternally, praise-worthy martyr Euphemia,
Thou fragrant blossom of renowned Chalcedon.
You honored Jesus Christ in pagan land of Bithynia,
Defeating Priscus’ hatred of the holy Christendom.

Refusing publicly to worship heinous idols,
Defying fearful rage of pagan Roman emperors,
You won by grace of God amidst the bloody struggles,
Destroying cult of demons as God’s fearless conqueror.

And after death of yours you shamed the heresy of Dioscorus,
Their creed and doctrine trampled underfoot.
With you, believers sing praise to the Creator in one chorus.
The glory of your heroism remains for good.
