Well I just got back from seeing Saved!. I went into the theater thinking that it would be a pro-Christianity, save yourself from fire and brimstone sort of movie. But I was pleasently surprised. While the general message of the movie was very theistic (the last few lines can attest to that), it was a hilarious religious sattire. And perhaps the most surpising thing to me out of the whole experience was that the entire audience agreed to the truths of the film. There was no one who walked out, no one who was greatly offended, and everyone laughed.

While there are bound to be a few poopers out there who want to start an argument in this thread, just give your expectations of the movie when you went in, any surprises or letdowns you felt, your favorite/least favorite scenes, etc.

If you haven't seen the movie yet, just give your general expectations of what you think it is like and the likelihood of you ever seeing it.

I've not seen it yet. I'm not sure if it'll make it to the UK, but I'd like to see it so I can discuss it. If what I've heard of it is accurate, it may be one of the most offensive things I've ever seen, but as it'll no doubt be discussed a lot on forums, I'd rather discuss from a position of experience. It could prove to be an excellent evangelistic topic - certainly my Pagan friends want to see it.

I actually liked the movie more than I thought I would. It had a good message and did so in a way that would appeal to a broader audience. You know a way to get them to see it and get the message out without turning them off from the get go.

Totally about God loves us all and accepts us now- died for us already and we don't need to worry about saving others, because He did that already! I think it did highlight a lot of what people criticize as the hyprocricy of Christianity today, which I don't think is a bad thing. I think it will open up discussions in our churches about how we can combat that attitude and get people to see the love we have to offer them!

It did a good job of showing that while someone might appear to many as being "perfect" they still have problems they need to work on as well.

I just saw this last night. It was a good movie. The main message it pushes is to love one another for who you are and not to be judged lest you be judged.

It does make the argument that the wold is shades of grey and we should not use black & white rules in such a world.

There is a lot of good subtle humor and good quotes. My favorite, which was on the commercial, has a girl throwing a bible at another girl saying she is filled with the love the Jesus. The other girl picks up the Bible and says "This is not a weapon."

Overall I thought the movie was just alright. The message it presented was excellent I thought. However, I am a big Mandy Moore fan and thought this wasn't her best film. Maybe I just didn't like her character all that much.

this movie was AWFUL. Nothing but hollyweird in typical fashion making Christians look like hypocrites and idiots.
two thumbs down

I haven't seen it, but from the trailer, it looked like a mockery of the Christian faith, and i would rather watch soapies than something of that nature...
