In light of the season, and in light of all the different religions and belief systems and cultures represented here, I only have one thing to offer:

MERRY CHRISTMA-HAUNA-KWANSA-KA TO YOU ALL!

And for you pagans, a very merry Saturnalia to you also.

I take it very few people have a sense of humor about the holiday season.

Happy Holidays!!!!! The Christians where I live who declared war on Christmas didn't even hold services on Christmas day. I am a Christian, but I don't understand why these Christians are so militant. I guess their ministers don't preach about the joy of our Lord.

Well, the Church I attend didn't have services either. But the reason for that is that Christmas is a family oriented holiday. Instead of having everyone get out of the house and come to church that morning, I told them to stay at home and be with their families.
Nothing militant about it from our standpoint.

Without Christ, there would be no Christmas and thus no such thing as a "family oriented" HOLY-day.

Being a listener to talk radio.....and usually the hosts are right wing Christians....I heard a catchy clever song titled...."Have a RamaHanaQwansMas" sung to the tune of "Have a Holly Jolly Christmas"....wish I could remember the lyrics.....they are clever and poke fun at the multiculture politically correct monstrosity our nation has become.

I got the Chrisma-Hauna-Kwans-ka thing from a stupid commercial on TV. I don't even remember what the commercial was about.

And it is true that with out Christ, there would be no Christmas, and no family oriented holiday. But there ain't no way possible for Jesus to have been born on December 25th. He was more than likely born in September, or maybe even October, but not December.

I haven't done any real research to pinpoint the exact date to my own satisfaction, but I wouldn't be surprized to find that he was born on the Day of Atonement.

The only reason I say that, and it's not a big issue to me, is that it is recorded that Jesus was 33 and a half when He was crucified. And we can pinpoint the date of His crucifixion. At least as far as what day of what month. He couldn't have been born in December. But that is not the only bit of evidence on this debate.

Feast of Tabernacles (Sept/Oct of that year) is closer to the mark due to the timing of.....

1. The priestly duties of Zecharias.
2. The impregnation of Elizabeth.
3. The visitation of Mary to Elizabeth.
4. The birth of John the Baptist.
5. The birth of Jesus 6 mons later.
6. The Jewish Feast Days associated with each.

The sheep folllow. The ministers want to stay home so they call it a family holiday. They are paid by the congregation, but they don't care. The celebration is about Jesus, it doesn't matter if it is his birthday or not, but the ministers want to stary home. They are selfish and militant for starting this war on Christmas thing and then not even celebrating it themselves. Shame on them.

Wait a minute, Soma.

I take exception to that remark. It was unfounded and uncalled for. I don't take a salary for pastoring my church. I have been here for 25 years, and never have taken a salary.

What war on Christmas? People want to debate whether Jesus was born in December or not, and we are accused of being militant. Get a life! No wait! You would have to grow up first. I forgot. Sorry... my bad.

Not only that, but Christmas has always been a big family event in our neck of the woods. But its only once every seven years that it falls on a Sunday. It was a decision made by the general consensus of the congregation at large. I didn't dictate things in this matter.

So, unless you have an apology to offer, why don't you take your militant sarcasm somewhere else. Eh, buckaroo?

I will end my part of this discussion right here, before I give in to the temptation to outline some of the more humorous qualities of stupid people.

People want to establish the family tradition of celebrating Christmas at church and they are locked out. The ministers decide that it is important to stay home, maybe they should stay home every Sunday or find another church. Go to church and the sign says Happy Holidays or Happy Family Day. I like the churches that say Merry Christmas.
